2. Couple of people in a seemingly nice neighborhood with apparent covenants and restrictions.

They received certified letters to remove a basketball pole/hoop, they didn't, so law enforcement came and took it, along with a few others from the neighborhood. I'm sure a lot of people in this country would love to trade problems with these people.

instead of facing the homeowners driveway, it was ruled hazardous/impoundable/whatever.

It would be nice to see more people stand up to them. When I bought my property, one of my 'deal-breaker' criteria is that it had to have no deed restrictions, and be under no HOA.

4. The DelDOT lied to these people as well, first telling them

they could keep their hoop but after loading it, told the guy he had to come and pick it up from wherever they were dumping them. They also had issues with the man standing on his own property talking to them. I guess that was not allowed either. :wtf:

8. same here .... the Realtor took us to a couple of nice

places ... nice empty lot (we were gonna build)
and they had HOA's .. we walked away ... told the Realtor
NO HOA's ... found the place we are at now .. for 18 years now ...

Seriously, these are unchecked fiefdoms run by people with too much time on their hands, and too much control over other people's lives. They need to be reigned in, or just scrapped.

5. Here, our HOA has worked well. It's been the same for 25 years. Anyone buying

into this area has it explained to them in detail, it's what we want here and if they don't like it no one is making them buy into this. What irks me is when people say they like an area, ignore the HOA and then proceed to F the area up. I'm not speaking of basketball hoops, but other things that degrade a neighborhood. ... but much of ours is commonsense. Things IMO most people would want when buying into a neighborhood.

The hoop was placed between the sidewalk and street. That area is not part of their property, at least not in my city. They made the street the court.

THAT pole has not been there for 60 years. Look at it.

It was NOT on his property and was hanging over the street. One may argue that the law is an ass, but it is still the law and he was given plenty of time to move the hoop. He simply refused to.

Property rights my ass.
