“...he who warned, uh, the...the British that they weren’t gonna be takin’ away our arms...uh, by ringin’ those bells and um...makin’ sure as he’s ridin’ his horse through town...to send those warning shots and bells...that, uh, we were gonna be secure and...and we were gonna be free...and we were gonna be armed."

Edited on Thu Jun-02-11 09:14 PM by James48
Never before in the course of human events, has one woman messed up American history so badly.....

"Palin said, “He who warned uh, the British that they weren’t gonna be takin’ away our arms, uh by ringing those bells, and um, makin’ sure as he’s riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be sure and we were going to be free, and we were going to be armed.”

Okay, there is a little problem with Palin’s story. Paul Revere’s historic ride occurred in 1775, the constitutional convention did not even convene until 1787. Besides this not so minor point, Sarah Palin gets everything else about Paul Revere’s ride wrong."

Note to any of Sarah's followers- PLEASE make this woman the republican nominee. Please!

The Beastie Boys had very convoluted lyrics, even back in the Licensed to Ill days.

4. She's channeling Lucy
Absolutely amazing. I kept waiting to hear a Cuban voice say "Saraaaa, you got a lot of 'splainin' to do."

It's kind of bad because she's creating a distraction from the other GOP idiots. People seeing her would likely feel that bloviating losers like Mitt Romney and even that Godfather's Pizza guy are intellectual luminaries. Hmmm, maybe that's her strategy.

Was it Longfellow who wrote of Paul Revere:

He rang all the bells and screamed at the Brits
"We're free and we're armed, you redcoated twits!"

5. I heard some excerpts of her "interview" with Greta V.S.
and crikey, she sounds like the gum snapping idiot that mans the counter at my hairdresser's. I can't believe there are actual adults who think she is intelligent /smart and wonder who the hell voted for her in AK --the cold temps had to have incapacitated critical reasoning and logic synapses.

shows like F-Troop and Hogan's Heroes.

She blew into Boston like the Wicked Witch of the West! With that incantation about the bells. Scary.

27. No not really
Listen my children and you shall hear
Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere,
On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-five;
Hardly a man is now alive
Who remembers that famous day and year.

He said to his friend, "If the British march
By land or sea from the town to-night,
Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch
Of the North Church tower as a signal light,--
One if by land, and two if by sea;
And I on the opposite shore will be,
Ready to ride and spread the alarm
Through every Middlesex village and farm,
For the country folk to be up and to arm."

snip

So through the night rode Paul Revere;=
And so through the night went his cry of alarm
To every Middlesex village and farm,---
A cry of defiance, and not of fear,
A voice in the darkness, a knock at the door,
And a word that shall echo for evermore!
For, borne on the night-wind of the Past,
Through all our history, to the last,
In the hour of darkness and peril and need,
The people will waken and listen to hear
The hurrying hoof-beats of that steed,
And the midnight message of Paul Revere.

22. How dare you! Trig is with Andrew Breitbart and his goats.
Breitbart failed to deny the latest rumors of abusing a child by allowing the disabled minor to be in the presence of his molested and infected livestock, ergo I am going to simply believe it because after all, "Some say that Breitbart has contracted diseases from sexual acts with goats."

17. When is her 15 minutes up?
Her level of knowledge IS comparable to that of most Americans. Sad but true. IMO, most Americans can not point out the inaccuracies in her statement about Paul Revere.

Many will believe she has it right, because she is a "politician" and she said it on tee vee.

It is not the fault of our Teachers. It IS the fault of tee vee and the idiotic content of most "entertainment." America is quickly becoming an "Idiocracy" on top everything else. This is by design. An uneducated populace is easier to control.

At least, REINSTATE THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE.

18. Actually it was Israel Bissell
From Wikipedia;
Israel Bissell (1752-1823) was a post rider in Massachusetts who alerted the American colonists of the British attack on April 19, 1775. He rode for four days and six hours covering the 345 miles from Watertown, Massachusetts to Philadelphia along the Old Post Road, shouting "To arms, to arms, the war has begun," and carrying a message from General Joseph Palmer which was copied at each of his stops and redistributed:

Comedian Robert Wuhl did a special, "Assume the Position" where he talked about Revere riding only 19 miles where Bissell rode all the way to PA to alarm the General. The reason Revere gets the credit is his name rhymed so the author Washington Irving could write the poem. Assume the Position is fun and full of true facts. Watch it if you have time.

35. Amazingly, Bachmann is a historical GENIUS compared to Palin.
Edited on Fri Jun-03-11 07:45 PM by TrollBuster9090
The fact that Bachmann was able to quote the "Hoot-Smalley Tariff Act" proves she's a genius compared to Palin. I mean, granted, she FUBARED it completely. She called it the Hoot-Smalley Tarrif Act, claimed it was brought in by FDR, and that FDR crashed the economy because of it. When in fact it was the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act, Smoot and Hawley were both Republicans, and they brought it in during the Hoover Administration, three years before FDR was elected. But at least she gave it a good honest idiot's try.

Palin, on the other hand, with Paul Revere riding through SLEEPY HOLLOW with his head under one arm, ringin' the ole LIBERTY BELL all the way, and shootin' in the air to tell the British that they're not gonna take our guns, .... that just out of this world.
