The British Channel 4 News on Monday ran a full 6-minute story about President Obama's visit to Ireland. In contrast, the three network newscasts in America were heavily devoted to the tornado in Joplin, Missouri and thus relegated this story and others to mere summaries. PBS NewsHour incorporated Obama's state visit and the Spanish elections and surrounding protests (another event largely ignored by American TV) as part of a larger story about the European economy.
