NOTE TO THE CONS: Where is your condemnation of GOP Representative Paul Broun and the people and questioner at his town hall?

I report the news of the day, talking about the Libyan Revolution and discussing the Rust Belt Revolution, and what this means for you, the unions, and for America; and issue a challenge to conservatives on the issue of the deficit. No Cons of the Day, but I got my Palinism of the Day!

1. They've shifted the tax burden onto our shoulders and all the politicians are on their payroll.
This country has become an oligarchy.

2. Yes, they are. A Neo-Feudal Age is just around the corner
unless we don't allow them to do what they're in the process of doing.

3. This type of thinking is annoying
This country is not an oligarchy.

We are not being enslaved by the rich.

I am a liberal, but this type of thinking is mostly jealousy.

Yes, certain rich people aim to deregulate industry in dangerous ways. Yes, certain corportions are actively engaged in profit generating enterprises that are dangerous for the health of our environment and the health of the people.

Yes, a-holes like scottwalker want to illegaly stop people from unionizing (which is actually far from free market principles as the working class coming together in unions in order to get a bigger peice of production is totally natural and making it illegal through legilation is like a sick version of government control over industry. In this case, they are trying to use the government illegaly to favor the interests of producers.

However, most of the economies producers, AKA most rich people, are not these sort of a-holes. In fact, most rich people are generally philanthropic, responsible, and generous people.

Two of the richest people in the world, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are actively fighting against poverty and for a better tax structure.

Yes, our current tax structure is insane. Rich people are able to shelter their money and pay far less in taxes, in many cases.

Yes, this should be changed.

Class wars are detrimental and miss the point entirely.

The sensible thing to do would be to regulate markets in such a way as to prevent companies from generating profit in ways that are dangerous to the economy and the health of people and the environment. The sensible thing to do would be to work toward legislation that puts in place social programs that reward responsibility and allow a more equitable opportunity for education and advancement for those whos environment makes it natural for them to not be valuable contributors to the economy. The sensible thing to do would be to make sure that their is a solid social safety net but NOT an endless government dole that keeps people from ever striving for anything beyond welfare. The sensible thing to do would be to implement a much better lower educational system that gives everyone an optimal foundation of critical thinking, reading, financial, science and math, and nutrition.

Going on a war against rich people is just a stupid, stupid idea.

Become rich yourself, make a difference.

Complaining about rich people does not a damned thing.

Commonsense always prevails. Our economic system is not perfect but I dare anyone of these bleeding heart liberals to point to one that is.

Sincerely,

A realistic Democrat.

Campaign finance reform would be a great place to start as far as re regulation is concerned.

6. Yes
Hard sell though because it would require a significant federal budget for political campaigns.

It costs a lot of money to be a politician and most politicians can only survive while trying to get elected to office because of campaign contributions. It's also nearly impossible to win without getting millions from rich people and/or corporations.

Campaign finance laws would have to operate purely from federal funds and allow no one to use donated money or their own money for them to make sense.

It's probably worth it, but now is certainly not the time to propose such legislation as it would never come close to passing.

Of course many emotional democrats, as I call them, will go BUT ITS THE RIGHT THING TO DO WHY ISNT OBAMA DOING THAT!???!!! OBAMA IS BIGGEST DISSAPOINTMENT EVERRRR! I THOUGHT EVERYONE IN THE WORLD WOULD BE SINGING KUMBAYA AND ALL SOCIAL PROBLEMS WOULD END BY THE END OF HIS FIRST TERM!

Of course, this is because they have no understanding of how politics works and think senators or the president can just snap their fingers and fix problems without convincing enough people to follow suit and vote.
