1. I don't know what fundamentalists look like

but what I find remarkable in the video is that

- not a single woman (except for the reporter) is seen without a headscarf or burka (nurse)
- whereas we see a blonde, stylish doll tied to a stick (at 3:48-3:52).
- The (peaceful?) takeover of the city, according to the reporter, was triggered by a man driving his car into the military barracks in a suicidal attack.
- Several young men on display are wearing guns.
- During the celebration, everybody is waving the flag of the monarchy.
- A lot of these people, perhaps all of them, seem to be into praying publicy and praising Allah.

Sadly, not a single word is lost on what this revolution aspires to achieve.

2. I'm wondering if we've seen the same video.
You're watching a video from an Arab country. Why do you suppose that there would be women without headscarves or burkas? This was not a revolution against religion.

The blonde, stylish doll looks more like a Ghadaffy doll with some yellow headwear if you ask me. The doll appears to have black hair.

If the reported said the takeover was peaceful i find that odd as well, considering they had to fight mercenaries. The suicidal attack turned the battle. So what if there was a suicide attack?

Several young men "on display" are indeed wearing guns, as one might expect after an armed conflict where a citizen militia are now keeping the peace.

The flag of the monrachy is indeed waved.

And again, you are watching a video from an Arab country. Why is it a surprise that people are praising their God?

Personally, i believe that the world gets better the more secular it is, at that religion is a bunch of bullshit, but i can't really see that this is some kind of Islamic revolution - although there is a risk that Islamic powers will play a role in whatever new government pops up. To be honest with you, i'm surprised people arent burning European and American flags, considering Ghadaffy was bankrolled by western democracies.

Oh, they didn't burn American flags in Egypt either, despite surpressing people with US made weapons including tear gas cannisters saying "Made in the USA".

that these people "don't look like fundamentalists" to you.

There is nothing in the video to suggest they are not, so I guess I was surprised you would even raise the issue.

OTOH, in stark contrast to what we saw in many videos and images from Tunisia and Egypt: not a single woman without a headscarf, many people with guns, monarchist flags, everyone praying ... from appearances they look like a bunch of backward-oriented, strongly religious violent insurgents. Unfortunately, as I said, we are left with impressions only since TRNN doesn't manage to get any substance in whatsoever.

And why would they carry around a doll with typical "European" looks: stylish, blonde hair, uncovered shoulders - tied to a stick?

Look again, I wasn't talking about the mock-lynching of Gaddafi, you can see the blonde tourist doll at 3:48-3:52 into the video.

8. It was an answer to the concerns of Ghadaffis former allies
Especially Italy and Germany.

But you know what, if this turns out to be an Islamic revolution, it's no-ones fault but our own governments for supporting this fascist lunatic for decades. You talk women's rights, I talk human rights.

I suggest you have a look at the twitter update threads to get a feel for what people over there, at least the young people, really want.

The photo you are showing appears to be some of the women in Ghadaffy's personal security squad. Part of their job is apparently also to serve as his harem, being on call to sexually satisfy him when he wants.

Oh and do you remember this?

Ghadaffi had 270 innoncent people killed that day. And he was still embraced by the west as an ally in our misguided "war on terror".

Swell guy.

6. I stand in awe of the Libyan people. Congratulations 2 them for rising up
against tyrants of hate.

It's been wonderful to see how tight the solidarity is throughout the Arab world.

9. Gadhafi troops surround city seized by rebels
'If we are fighting for freedom, we are ready to die for it'

TRIPOLI — Libyan rebels awaited a counterattack by Moammar Gadhafi's forces on Monday, after the country's leader defied demands that he quit to end the bloodiest of the Arab world's wave of uprisings.

Rebels holding Zawiya, only 30 miles west of Tripoli, said about 2,000 troops loyal to Gadhafi had surrounded the city.

"We will do our best to fight them off. They will attack soon," said a former police major who switched sides and joined the rebellion. "If we are fighting for freedom, we are ready to die for it."

Gadhafi is fighting a rebellion which has swept through his Mediterranean oil producing nation after uprisings toppled entrenched leaders in neighboring Tunisia and Egypt. His fierce crackdown has killed hundreds, triggering U.N. sanctions and Western condemnation, but has not turned the tide of protests.

Residents even in parts of the capital Tripoli have thrown up barricades against government forces. A general in the east of the country, where Gadhafi's power has evaporated, told Reuters his forces were ready to help rebels in the west.
