House Speaker John Boehner says spending cuts of $100 billion are necessary to shrink the ballooning national deficit.

"There's no limit to the amount of money that our members want to cut," the Ohio Republican said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

"We're broke," he said. "What's really dangerous is if we continue to do nothing and allow the status quo to stay in place. When are we going to get serious about cutting spending? And our members want to take this leap forward, because it has to happen and it needs to start now."
