Interesting insight from Fareed where he discusses how the army must be considering "how much reform they have to do, and how much they can reserve their power".

Fascinating times.

I'll add the transcript here when it's online, and add subtitles to the video when I can.

1. Al Jazeera English: Post-Mubarak era dawns on Egypt
People power has spoken in the biggest Arab nation just four weeks after Tunisians toppled their own ageing ruler.

The top figure in Egypt is now Field Marshal Mohammed Hussein Tantawi, the country's defence minister and head of the supreme council.

In its third statement to the nation since Thursday, the council said in a televised address that it was examining the situation "in order to materialise the aspirations of our great nation".

The council spokesman said that "resolutions and statements regarding the ... actions to be followed" in order to achieve the demands of the people will be handed down later.

He also extended "greetings and appreciation" to Mubarak for his service to the country, and saluted the "martyrs and those who have fallen" during the protests.

Nezar al Sayyad, a Middle East specialist, told Al Jazeera that Egypt “is in a very critical stage in terms of what is going to happen next.”

2. I am concerned about the way forward.
When will they have elections?

Has the Emergency Law been lifted?

What is the process for changing their Constitution?

The military leaders should have nailed down these three issues by now.

But most of all I don't see the military giving up their business interests. It seems to fund the military and provide payments to the officers.

4. Robert Gibbs said (paraphrased)
that if the Iranian government were confident in their position, then they would not fear peaceful demonstrations, etc... Why does the American government arrest peaceful demonstrators and the MSM not even cover them?
Could the American government fear the results of peaceful demonstrations and the demands being made by average (99%er) citizens? Especially their great insistence that "we" not bail out the financiers? Just sayin....
