2. There are artists.....
...novelists and song writers I'd never heard of until someone put something of theirs on the web. Which in turned spurred me to purchase their art, book or music. It amounts to free advertising and exposure to groups that the publishers haven't reached or didn't even think to.

From my own analysis, it appears to me that all these copy-writing lawsuits are mostly lawyer-driven initiatives involving people who were raised upon the old paradigms of communication, and who stand to gain personally from the legal action. Their concerns don't appear to be for the artist, novelist or musician, but only their own pockets. But that's the way of capitalism. It is a cancer that eats everything in-sight eventually because it's all about nothing but money.

- Just money.......

3. Cory Doctorow would say the same thing
There are several music artists whose works did not sell until they were sneaker-netted around a bit.
