House Republicans are proposing to drastically narrow the definition of rape that qualifies for health care coverage. House Resolution 3 would redefine rape in these cases to only include "forcible rape," a definition that rules out a woman being drugged, children who are victims of statutory rape, and many date rape scenarios.
No matter what Speaker John Boehner and House Republicans want to call it, rape is rape -- women should have the right to health care following a rape.
Sign our petition denouncing Republican Speaker John Boehner and House Republicans for supporting this extremist anti-woman bill and trying to deny health coverage to women and children who are victims of rape and incest.
http://dccc.org/women And you wanna know what this really means? it means that children of incest and other men women boys and girls who are coercivly raped will have less of an option for saying something to authorities when it does come to needing help. Since they will know if this bill passes that if they have no money they will not be able to get help, how many kids do you know with cash? plus other pressures may just mean what happened gets swept under the rug. this is a vile piece of legislation designed to protect the aggressor who is at home. or at the office. I wonder how many interns in washington dc have had bad things happen to them....? and they're pressured to stay quiet? bears some thinking about.
I signed. Will you?
