2. What are the roadblocks to it being that simple?

7. Well, there are the racists for one.
Hard to believe in the 21st century, but there are white people in this country who have never met a black person, and never want to. They don't have them as neighbors, they don't work with them, they don't patronize businesses owned by them or which employ them. They see blacks as the source of all of America's problems and since urban areas seem to have higher concentrations of blacks, they seek to starve cities into oblivion.

Now, this is a very small segment of the population as a whole. And if they kept to themselves rotting away in some godforsaken backwater we could ignore them. But they don't.

The thing is, they have money - and they've used that money to influence the policies of the major political parties. And we're all living through the effects of that influence. Those policies have done immeasurable damage to the middle class - black and white - and continue to do so.

We can't stop talking about racism, because racism still exists. And it's still destroying lives.

4. he's "right" for the people that can feel that way
the problem is, we don't live in a society that is color blind and a lot of people will not be color blind. The rest of us can't just pretend them away.

5. A first step - stop breaking down political polls by race.
And
eliminate the Congressional Black Caucus
eliminate the Black Entertainment Awards
eliminate the Black Music Awards
etc.

When there are 'separate' awards shows and groups it promotes self segregation.
