I've read through most of two of his books, if anybody has the head and heart to advise us as a public through this genetically modified patch of huge thorns, he does. An understanding of and ability to convey the history and the structure as we were intended and can be like none other I've heard.

preferences would be for something feminist -- and would have to go trudging

thru my journals to find something.

However, re Capitalism vs our economy, I notice that a handful of people will still

suggest that rather than ridding ourselves of capitalism that we should regulate it!

We all patiently explain that capitalism "fails" repeatedly due to its corruption

and criminal nature -- and that capitalism was regulated until recent times when right

wingers bought Congress in order to de-regulate it.

But I did come by a stronger response to that by Michael Moore in his

"Capitalism: A Love Story" which I rewatched today.

Near the end of the movie he says something like this ...

"Capitalism is an evil.

You can't regulate an evil."

Whatta ya think?

Which means you are 'aware", and thus CAN do something.

Many times here people have posted the clear warning signs,and what they mean, and the posts have become overwhelmed with denialists.

A couple of obvious options:
go small and eco-friendly
go communal and eco-friendly

either way, we are going to have to adjust to a very small foot print.

this means... Change!


If I were living on my own, esp. with limited income, I would invest my retirement funds/savings in a piece of land
( very affordable here in the South) that I could rapidly pay off, or in a small motor home than I could stick on a piece of land, but close enough to a small town/stores.
Or one of those Tiny Houses...

Seriously...

I have been looking at the tiny house blog and the tiny housing sites.
I may end up there.

10. I think that this is what people will do in reaction to all that is happening.

Actually, I have thought about this for years and I LOVE those tiny homes. I lived in a motorhome, a very nice one, for a year, 2003. My ex and I did this to live on site while he built his daughter's mega-mansion. I gleaned lots of good space saving ideas out of that experience. Who knows we might well enjoy some of our best times with a whole lot less!

This is a way of coping but unfortunately, doesn't rid us of the problem that is leading us to this way of living.

Over-all, I think your idea is grand! Good luck.

Did those who brought you up in your formative years ever advise against judging a book by its cover? Or is label and brand all one should notice? I understand how much impact the conditioning of exceptionalism has when I encounter arguments such as these. I generally see it as something to avoid rather than promote.

Thom Hartmann has earned my trust through years of providing an entertaining education on the matters of the moment, I'm glad he's chosen not to go mainstream, a venue that should accept going all corporate spin has consequences.

Thom Hartmann has been that for me. I was diagnosed with ADD in the late monetize and his books were some of the go to tomes on the subject. Fas forward a decade and he's one of the leading voices of the left.
