3. when he said this
I started searching for 1 example of Nelson or Lincoln on Fox news, where their points of view were agreed with. Any guesses to how many clips I found?

Jon is wrong on this one, and Rachael missed a solid follow up question.

2. Seeing Jon Stewart without the mask of production and writers...
has only made me respect him more.

He is a brilliant Satirist, and a decent human being.

6. No sarcasm...
But I don't have to have everybody agree with me about everything.

Makes me wonder what Jonathan Swift would have been like.

10. You have GOT to be kidding
He's providing cover for thugs on the right - greasing the skids for the brutal despots of tomorrow. In Jon's world, "restoring sanity" means treating flagrant war criminals with civility.

He is neither brilliant nor decent.

5. He was so focused on appearing middle-of-the-road that I found him incoherent.
Talking in circles, refusing to call a spade a spade.

I think the success of the rally went to his head; he came across as full of himself, almost to the point where I found it amusing watching him "pontificate" as though he were some sage schooling Rachel. The interview was a turnoff. Jon's better in his Daily Show character.

7. "Jon's better in his Daily Show character. "

Held up on the pillars of EXCELLENT writers. Jon is the EGO, the performer. His WRITERS are the brains. He does the timing and body language thang at which he is BRILLIANT. I found him truly indisposed, somewhat incoherent and wished he were home in bed recuperating properly.

Rachel handled him with the grace and ease of an empathetic soul.

Tante K.'s conspiracy theory:

He didn't cancel because had he been in top-fit form, girlfriend just MIGHT have diplomatically mopped the studio floor with his full head of distinguished saltandpepper hair.

9. Jeez, I'm Glad I Wasn't the Only One
Seems like when an apology was called for, he used the whole show to attempt to continue equating the centrist network MSNBC, which has some right-wingers on it, and FOX, a network that is entirely the ruler of the republican party. Has Rachel ever put out a lie as big as the 200 million dollar a day lie that recently ran all day long, and likely was never even retracted? Rachel, even with small errors, always fixes them and retracts and corrects them the next day, the few times she's made them.

And say MSNBC and the rest of is return to being civil and sane again? What is going to make FOX do it too? IT isn't as if we started it. So following Stewart, we'll end up with FOX doing the same thing it does, as they are not going to stop. And we'll have MSNBC going back to being pussies, democratic pussies. Sorry to be so crass, but I say we keep giving as good as we get, until THEY calm down, stop encouraging their viewers to violence.

Stewart is just wrong, and all he's doing is continuing down the wrong road, and slapping his own fans in the face. I've actually found his shows less funny lately, and truth is, I don't know how much bias I'm filtering in because of the anger I feel about his BS comparison.

8. I think Jon's burnt out. There is NO comparison between MSNBC and Fox.
Edited on Fri Nov-12-10 06:06 PM by herbm
He almost argues that Fox and the teabaggers should be left alone because 'fighting' them requires adopting Fox methods. Why couldn't Lou Dobbs survive on MSNBC but has a place on Fox? Who is the Beck or O'Reilly equivelent on MSNBC? Who mirrors half Gov Palin?
