Progressive Glenn Greenwald Vs Socialist Lawrence O'Donnell

Lawrence O'Donnell Calls Himself A 'Socialist,' Slams Glenn Greenwald On 'Morning Joe'
Lawrence O'Donnell and prominent blogger Glenn Greenwald engaged in a heated debate on Friday's "Morning Joe" about the political direction the Democratic Party should take in the wake of their midterm election losses.

Two days before he came on the MSNBC show, Greenwald had fired the first salvo in the debate. In a post on Wednesday, he singled out O'Donnell as an example of cable news pundits always advising Democrats to move to the right in order to win elections:

1. I guess O'Donnell accepts polls at face value.
Don't dig TOO deeply, Lawrence. This is a slanted poll. (Is government too big?)

4. Someone doesn't understand how Congressional elections work
That would be the guy who never even voted as of 2006 and who only lives half-time in America. Democrats who reside in liberal districts (like my Rep., Danny Davis, who is apparently Congressman for Life) get re-elected. The Democrats who squeaked though in conservative or swing districts in 2006 or 2008 on the anti-Bush / early recession / Iraq/ Katrina debacle got swung back out. Greenwald tries to take information (like the number of liberals who stayed in their seats in their mostly urban or minority districts) and tries to project it onto the national tenor. Maybe it works that way in Brazil, but the game is decidedly different here.

Sorry, O'Donnell won this one.

6. Tragic Arrogance of O'Donnell
~ I would so love to add my simple "LOL"
...but it was really heartbreaking to watch this.
(In fact I could go no further than the first
O'Donnell interruption)
I want to offer my sincere apologies to
Mr Greenwald for having to endure that.
Before Rachel Maddow was signed onto her
present show---I remember an occassion
between them in which he did the same.
Normally I don't listen to his TV commentary.
He's subbed for Olbermann a number of times
...that's where I've gotten more of the
gist of him. Just recently I'd been thinking
that maybe he was coming into a sounder mind
-- after observing a qualitative uptick in
all things journalistic, since Maddow's appearence
on the scene.
He's a funny guy...occasionally offering
experiential knowledge and yet at other times
his 'real self' appears & monopolizes the scene.
Ugly. Petty. Condescending. Giving credence to the term "elite"
Basically, I don't trust him -- and his demeanor
with both Maddow & Greenwald (who are both smart
as well as personable)---seals the deal.

8. I concur...
There is something very snarky/sarcastic/nasty about the way O'Donnell speaks to and about others....I dunno...I'm sure he's lovely one-on-one, but the 'tude....I don't like. It rubs me and many others the wrong way unnecessarily.

9. I'm no major fan of Greenwald...
But he smoked O'Donnell (who is utterly unwatchable) in this segment.
