David Bismark demos a new system for voting that contains a simple, verifiable way to prevent fraud and miscounting -- while keeping each person's vote secret.

1. I just showed this in my ESL class today!
Funny thing is, you know if Dems keep/upset seats in what have been touted as likely republican wins, they will try to blame voting machines, intimidation etc... They will say, "how can the polls before hand have been so wrong?"

3. There is already a system that is considered foolproof
Its called paper and pen. What? Too high tech for you?

Here's a little story about space exploration. Writing notes and observations on early space exploration, espcially when we snt men up for extended periods was a technical issue. So America spent millions and years developing the zero g pen that could write upside-down . Meanwhile the Russians send their space crews up with pencils and sharpeners .

Costly and complex is not always, and I daresay ever, better.

4. True, but,
They had a problem with graphite dust and wood powder floating in the air.

5. He says his system doesn't depend on computers, but it does.
In this system you still have to believe the computer. You have to believe it's counting your vote the way it's telling you.

In this system, the computers are still doing the counting, still in secret.

We need a system in which the people can witness the counting. If someone can come up with a system in which computers can do that, that's great -- even if it amounts to using a rifle to swat a fly. Paper ballots would be the fly swatter.
