2. Whenever I hear the "Rollerball" theme...
I imagine a squad of roller-skating goons roaring around the corner to bash Republicans. Good choice of music, Mr. Olbermann.

3. It always gives me a different vibe.
Dad had a record of Albert Schweitser (yes, THAT Albert Schweitser) playing the Bach Toccata and Fugue in D minor. His heroic rendition played on the FLENTROP organ in ZAANDAM Holland is nothing less than emotionally shattering.

I always hear Schweitser causing the entire church to resonate with the sustainuto. It makes me physically shiver.

4. It makes me sad that this is thought of as the "rollerball theme", but it is an excellent choice.

6. The world knows it as "The Rollerball Theme." Get over it.
The same way with the Lone Ranger Theme and the Green Hornet Theme. But as the theme to Rollerball, it is far more important. Long before John Williams's Imperial March, it was the sound of impending violence. It also celebrates sadism; anyone who remembers the pointless death toll in that movie - the ultimate goal of football and all sports, leaving dead bodies on the playing field for no genuine reason - knows what it means.

It announces that Freddy Krueger is in the White House, Jason Voorhees has the Second Satchel, and Mrs. Leatherface is about to become the Democratic candidate. Hearty helpings of doom all around, and only Olbelmann is willing to say it.

7. Thank you for the explanation. Nicely said.
As for the "get over it" comment, there is no need to be rude. My initial reply was "Bite me" but that too would have been unnecessarily rude.

Why is it that I always find something on here to make my day?
