Joe Miller seems bent on losing his race for the Senate when just weeks ago he was measuring the drapes for "his" office in Washington, DC. From the Anchorage Daily News:

The editor of the Alaska Dispatch website was arrested by U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller's private security guards Sunday as the editor attempted to interview Miller at the end of a public event in an Anchorage school.

Tony Hopfinger was handcuffed by the guards and detained in a hallway at Central Middle School until Anchorage police came and told the guards to release Hopfinger.

Hopfinger has not been charged but the owner of the Drop Zone, the private security firm that's been providing Miller's security, accused Hopfinger of trespassing at the public event, a town hall sponsored by the Miller campaign. The owner, William Fulton, also said Hopfinger assaulted a man by shoving him.

Anchorage Police who responded to the call said they would leave it to the District Attorney's office to decide whether to prosecute. They spent more than an hour taking statements, then left.

1. Joe's toast.
The job for us now is to convince liberals to vote their conscience (Scott McAdams) instead of writing in Lisa out of fear. I think we can do it.

2. Is the Alaska Dispatch a big newspaper?

Influential?

I think handcuffing an editor would have some ramifications by way of large headlines: JOE MILLER SCARED OF HIS PAST - What's he hiding?

3. The Alaska Dispatch is an online news service
and I don't have figures about their readership, but they are a respected source. The Anchorage Daily News, though, is read statewide and is extensively covering this story. There are currently 1903 mostly negative comments to the ADN's reporting.

You can read the story and the comments here: http://www.adn.com/2010/10/17/1506223/miller-security-guards-handcuff.html

8. Anchorage Daily News (ADN) is the top paper in the state.

They and the Alaska Dispatch and other papers large and small are suing Miller to get his employment records.

They could all go after him. I am worried that Miller will play the "librul media are out to get me" card and hide under that.

I don't understand the issues they're suing over exactly. From what I vaguely gather, Miller was a government attorney working to prepare government info on the tax obligations of an oil industry pipeline. But all of a sudden it turns out Miller is trying to dig up dirt on the leading state GOP official, and he was doing it using government office facilities and time. So he almost lost his job for that.

The question is, why was Miller trying to destroy the leading state GOP official? Was that official not being as cooperative to the oil industry as the oil industry wanted? Was Miller being paid off by the oil industry to be their little henchman?

And one of the frustrating things about this is the lack of time. The odds of the truth coming out about this by election day are low.

Meanwhile, the whole Tea Party is being bankrolled by the Koch brothers who are oil men. The oil industry is into this election up to its eye sockets. And it probably won't come out until after their thugs, goons and henchman have already taken over Capitol Hill on Nov. 2nd.

It looks as if the oil industry has a big hand in rigging this election.

9. Alaska politics, especially the Republican Party,
is very complicated and convoluted. Sarah Palin and her henchmen, of whom Miller was one, plotted a coup, a takeover, of the Alaska Republican Party several years go. Randy Ruedrich, the chair of the party, was busted by Sarah for using state resources to conduct party business while they were both on the Alaska Oil & Gas Commission. He got a $12,000 fine for that. That's when she established her bona fides as a "straight shooter" kind of gal who was going to clean up corruption. Sarah & Co. then tried to oust him from the party chairmanship, but they failed. He is still the chair.

Since that time there has been a huge rift within the state party between the Palinites and the old-line Republicans, Stevens, Murkowski(s), et al. It's a pure power play that has very little to do with oil or anything else. It's just Sarah and her ego, mainly. Joe's run this time is just a continuation of a battle that's been going on here for several years.

It is funny, though, that Joe is being busted now for doing the exact same thing that he and Sarah criticized Ruedrich so much for. I guess you should also know that the only way Sarah found out about Ruedrich using the state computers for political business was because she hacked into them. Irony abounds.

Things are not as simple here as they appear from Outside. As I keep telling you, Scott can win this race because people are tired of the drama. It's the Hatfields and McCoys in the Alaska Republican Party.

10. Good Ad Idea: Tired of the Drama? Scott is for you, they are for
themselves and their egos.

7. We're not out of the woods yet.

Goopers are under orders from der Fuhrer. The polls will have to shift a lot for frightened Democrats to feel comfortable leaving Murkowski to vote for McAdams. This development is a double edged sword. It hurts Miller but it also makes people more afraid of him, which helps Murkowski. We have just 2 weeks for enough Democrats to feel safe enough to come home to McAdams and I don't see how you do that in 2 weeks. They have to be convinced that Miller is absolutely toast for them to feel that the race is now down to Murkowski vs. McAdams. So far that doesn't seem on the radar.

The first thing will be that some of Miller's more moderate supporters (if there are any) will switch, but they are much more likely to switch to Murkowski.

Then there's the problem that McAdams needs to convince voters that Murkowski is not a viable choice since she's a write in. How do you do that and simultaneously tell everyone the race is down to McAdams and Murkowski?

A big part of the problem is Murkowski is also very right wing like Miller, but she doesn't have the same bad image because she's not a thug like he is. So I don't know how McAdams pulls it off in 2 weeks.

Funny about the facial hair:

Miller always has a slight beard like a bandit or Yasser Arafat.
But his security goons all look like skin heads.

Murkowski just naturally looks less like a thug. So she has an image of being more "moderate" despite her right wing positions.

So much of politics is atmospherics instead of facts and right now that works in Murkowski's favor.

5. News people should NOT be asking questions of Tea Party candidates, that's NOT fair!
And if they keep asking, they should be arrested?

OH Please! So much for that Constitution and the FIRST AMENDMENT?
