2. Of course it will!
This will be huge! Think in terms of prohibition of alcohol, how the gangsters took over, and how the booze companies were then in a place to make a ton of money... all taxed! All those jobs too... "green" jobs of a slightly different shade. ;)

3. I'm watching Boardwalk Empire right now.
They had parities when prohibition started, just because they knew how much money they were going to make. Lol, and some of those green jobs turn out to be quite purple if you do it right.

16. See?
This is a perfect example of how cannabis brings people together. We've had a disagreement or two in the past, but I know we could blaze one (or maybe two) and have a great time.

7. Amen!
Herbal is best. Some say it's a "gateway" drug... well, I guess I know dozens of people who have been hanging around the gate for 50 years or more, never caring to venture beyond. Seems to me that alcohol is the gateway drug!

6. An even bigger potential lies in the commercial use of the
hemp fiber. I think Ca farmers would like to grow a plant that doesn't require so much irrigation or fertilization and has more uses than cotton.

8. I don't think there are many pests that bother it either...
And the damn stuff grows like a weed!

:smoke:

Yes, hemp can do anything that cotton can, with less muss and fuss. It can be made into paper too.

I have, however, stumbled upon many a "fear" meme in the InterTubes lately... mostly BS from what I can tell.

20. I suspect the wood pulp
industry and the cotton growing industry has been exerting a bit of influence to fight the development of industrial hemp use.

Back in the day(really), we actually bought and smoked wild growing hemp that people had harvested from surrounding states. It was very low priced and rightly so. We did this because marijuana was hard to come by at times. Anyway, the stuff was horrible. Because of the fiber content it was incredibly harsh and nearly impossible to smoke. Also, the THC content was so low that it was not even worth the effort. Fibrous hemp is completely harmless because no one would even bother to smoke it.

I suppose the argument could be made that industrial hemp could be cross bred to make varieties with more drug content. But anyone than knows much about hemp and marijuana genetics knows this argument is unsound.

that it can do anything that petroleum can. And much cleaner and safer! Ford even made car bodies from natural hemp plastic. :hi:

ETA: and I dare say the if cannabis/hemp/marijuana had not been made illegal, we wouldn't be dependant on foreign oil and there be no Iraq/Afghanistan wars. IMO of course.

9. I believe the young lady handled it well, she stayed on message, but the host was right about one
thing, they didn't give this discussion enough time.

The opposing guy could never figure out that this change was coming up from the people; they're demanding it after decades of dysfunctional insanity; serving as policy.

If the political leaders; at the top, state and federal were serious about representing the best interests of the nation, the issues of state/federal regulations/jurisdiction would have long since been settled, but instead they decided to alienate the American People turning what should be educational, medical and personal privacy issues in to cold, callous, draconian criminal policies; that have done nothing except cause misery for millions if not tens of millions of Americans.

Thanks for the thread, asdjrocky.

17. Dale Sky Clair is for real.
She's a wonderful and very real person as well as being a great organizer. I was lucky enough to meet her and spend some time working with her on the Oaksterdam Spring Cup back on 4/20.

Good point about the opposition. I loved the fact that the best he could do is make stuff up while Dale had what truthful people call sources.

10. The police would not want marijuana to be legal because
violence would drop by 30% and there would be less need for police officers. Just of bunch of people say I'm Rick James Bitch!

12. prop 19
This Mr.Salazar, who is against prop 19,says they fear it will increase the use of marijuana to 1970's levels. To this I say,I hope so,as I don't recall hearing of drive by shootings in the 70's.Personally it it my belief that if we could increase marijuana use it might be easier to end some of the divisiveness that plagues our society at present.

15. Good luck, CA! Hope you pass this Prop 19
So many good points made in the video and so many more that should have been discussed. Especially the fact that tourism will increase slightly; at least it's give me a reason to go back to CA...

18. This IS the right thing to do.
I've never tried the stuff, and don't plan to. But the money we've WASTED, and the lives lost - super totally ridiculous expenditures. I'm for legalizing ALL the controlled substances. Give them out for FREE if you're 21 or older. If you do yourself in - lessening of the dumb shit gene in the pool is an admirable enhancement. And giving it out for free would ALMOST wipe away ANY incentive to "push" the stuff. Besides, if it was govt supplied, there'd be no worry about the stuff being cut or tainted to where it wouldn't do right by it's users.

21. Obviously the legal status
of these drugs does more harm than the actual drugs themselves.

But we must consider the needs of the prison industrial complex.:sarcasm:
