The interview was staged to stroke the self-righteous piety of every little ant who thinks the undeserving grasshopper should be left to starve, for every penny pinching scrooge and for every spendthrift midas in America.

In the Parable of Lazarus and the Rich Man, the rich man goes to hell for doing no more than merely allowing Lazarus to eat the crumbs that fall from his table without either praising himself for his charity or for condemning Lazarus for his penury. The rich man was a far better man than most American conservatives.
