MSNBC The Rachel Maddow Show - 8 October 2010: Rachel emphasizes the most important issue involved in the mad-scientist right-wing Art Robinson. UNLIMITED campaign donations from anonymous sources. Robinson allegedly believes in "hormesis," low levels of radiation are good for you, believes he has disproved man-made climate change, and makes money off home-schooling DVDs that are based on racist 19th-century author, G.A. Henty, believing public schools should be abolished.

RACHEL: "What is really important about Art Robinson is not just how unusual he is as an American or as a candidate. What is important about Art Robinson is that he is potentially viable this year as a Congressional candidate... because of this..."

- snip -

"Concerned Taxpayers of America. That group is running $150,000 worth of that ad in this rural district in southern Oregon to make Art Robinson seem totally mainstream, totally electable. $150,000 from lord knows where. Concerned Taxpayers of America doesn't have to tell anybody where the money is from that is running that ad. The only thing we know about where the money is coming from to try to promote this man's candidacy, to try to make him not just the guy who lives in the self-declared scientific institute distributing racist children's books on the edge of town, but rather a viable Congressional candidate, the only thing we know about Concerned Taxpayers of America is THIS:

This piece of paper filed with the Federal Elections Commission, this is it. This is the sum-total of Concerned Taxpayers of America's existence. In this filing, the Concerned Taxpayers of America helpfully notes nothing about their donors, nothing about where they intend to raise money from. They only note that they intend to 'raise funds in unlimited amounts...'

- snip -

What if it were $500,000? What if it were a million dollars? What if it were 150 million dollars?

- snip -

We are not allowed to know. That's just how it works now."

2. what's hilarious is he thinks he gets the better of her by acting like an abusive professor

when in fact, he ends up looking like a horse's ass

appropriate, given his theories and views

he was so out of his league but thought he could just keep talking and it would make everything he said in the past obsolete and go away, but in fact it only raises obvious questions that his 'science' appears to reform itself with 'new facts' within a period of 10-15 years... hardly something you'd call 'science'

5. He came across as an angry, rude idiot.
That's what I saw anyway. For the few minutes I could stand to have him in my living room. What a stupid clown.

O'Donnell look good and that is some wild crazy to do that. But still not good enough to elect I might add.

6. I couldn't even finish watching that interview.
Mr. Mad Scientist, Art Robinson, did a good job of making Rachel's point. I'm pretty sure he only went on her show to for the purpose of being belligerent and obnoxious. He was seething with anger and contempt, clearly not interested in civil discourse. I'm glad they weren't in the same room. He might have physically attacked her. He elevates the image of "grumpy old man" to an entirely new level. Having said that, it truly frightens me that these kind of wack jobs are being given legitimacy by Republicans. They don't care. They just want a warm body with an R behind the name.

7. The 'GOP' strategy seems to be to fill
government positions with complete idiots who are easiest to manipulate to their ends. Only the most deranged crank with no idea of how our government works would willingly follow their twisted agenda.

Whatever they call themselves, they are ruthlessly bent on destroying our country as we know it. We must match their ruthlessness or be defeated by it. This is serious stuff.

Rachel Maddow is such a bright light.
