OK, so I really don't expect the dems to run THIS ad, but we really should be pushing harder on the facts that the only reason healthcare isn't stronger is that the GOP pushed back against giving Americans the change we voted for in 2008. The only reason the stimulus wasn't more successful is that it was diluted to appease the right. The only reason we aren't out of GITMO and the only reason there's not a biger push in Afghanistan and the only reason help for the unemployed took so long is that the Republicans made political hay out of each of those issues in turn so they could gain more seats in this election, AND IT'S F%#*ING WORKING!

1. Would love to see it!
The reason people here in the south want to give them back the keys is because they are brainwashed. A republican told me today that we have the most liberal supreme court in history! Of course I corrected him, but he thinks I am brainwashed. Go figure!

3. So are you advocating that
Edited on Thu Sep-30-10 05:52 PM by humbled_opinion
America should resolve itself to be a single political party system of government with Democrats in control always and no opposition party? Are you saying that even though Democrats had large majorities in both the House and Senate that wasn't good enough and that unless they get even larger majorities we can never get a progressive agenda passed? Do you really believe that talk radio and Faux noise put out more misinformation then Obama could possibly have countered with his unique speaking talents and being on TV every day and even with a special session of Congress called to boot?

Look every President has a job to sell their agenda to the American people, it takes a really skilled Leader to bring a majority of the American people over to the beliefs that your have but first and foremost you have to be principled and really believe in your positions.

I am sorry to tell you that the only reason those things you listed were not succesfull and you can add healthcare to the list because it is a failure too is because Obama failed to do what he knew in his heart was right.

You have to lead the American people to the promised land they will not go along just because one man says its so, most Americans have learned hard historical lessons from too many dictators in the history of the world to just openly trust one man with their Freedom.

Didn't you learn anything from Bush's Presidency?

4. No, actually what I'm advocating
is that the right should only make political gains when they've earned them. This time around, they haven't.

6. Exactly
but our leaders didn't really earn control of Congress in the 2006 elections either they campaigned that they would change the direction that Bush was taking the country but that was it. Repukes are just doing the same thing now.

The bottom line is that America is rejecting all incumbents....

7. Why would you agree with that ad?
The only audience that will cheer at that ad is the base. You will not win votes from Independents or Republicans with that message. Obstructionism is a losing campaign strategy. The Repukes did not stop HCR even though they tried and the American people (Centrists) are rejecting it. The Repukes did not stop Stimulus even though they tried and the American people (centrists) are rejecting it. Come to think of it aside from DADT there was not one single Obama agenda item that the Repukes did stop so the ad is nonsensical.

Unless you are saying that the ad seriously points out the failure of Democrats to LEAD. That I would agree with.

8. Who says all ads
have to target independents and Repugs? Sometimes, it's necessary to mobilize the base.

9. Touche
However, running it may even further alienate those centrists you are trying to win over...

OK, I will be positive its a great ad for youtube and forums like Democratic underground but for the DLC to actually run it in a nationwide spot, Nah!...

10. Thank you.
That was the point I was trying to make with it. Of course I wouldn't expect an ad like this to actually run. That's clear in the description. But we should be making the point that the GOP did NOTHING for the past two years but vote against the change we voted for in 2008. There are - shall we say - subtler ways of makingthat point. So why haven't we?

11.  Exactly thats my question....Why haven't we? ...
Indeed... If I put my tinfoil hat on I can see all sorts of deliberate scenarios between the ruling class Repukes and Democrats alike on Capitol Hill lots of snickering behind those closed doors all at our expense.....
