2. Hannity's career is due to Ollie. Imagine that Rev. Wright was allowed on TV with all that publicity

Rev. Wright (remember him??) was more influential and more widely viewed than Falwell. They both grew their ministeries with VCR tapes- Rev. Wright dwarfed Falwell in numbers. But only Falwell was a regular on CNN (Larry King) in the early years and he exploded due to the free advertising.

The only reason that North was allowed to wear a uniform and not a suit in his testimoney was because Joe Biden, the deciding vote, said it was okay. North had already retired from the Corp. A media coup for North.

BTW- North resigned his command in Okinawa in the early 70's. Probably shell shock (PTSD is the PC term for it) but he did have to step down.

Sean Hannity at the time had a painting business in Atlanta and it went bankrupt because he spent days on the telephone calling in to talk radio shows in the area. The manager of one station liked his style and gave him a job middle of a Saturday afternoons. Hannity was hired to do a show in San Diego and was shortly fired for anti-gay rants. Roger Ailes picked this cardboard cutout out of the thin air to be on his new TV network.

Sen. John Warner (the old one -married to Elizabeth Taylor) convinced Marshall Coleman to run against North in Ollie's Senate bid against Chuck Robb. Coleman did it but it cost him his marriage. There was some talk here in Va. of creating a Congressional seat along the WV border that Ollie could easily win but it never came to fruition.

Read Jeffrey Toobin's (CNN) "Opening Arguments". His first job out of law school. He details the tremendous pains they took not to see North's tesitmony. That was the basis for the overturning of the verdict of obvious theft and lying to Congress that Laurence Silberman's court ruled. Silberman consulted Walsh's Special Prosecutor team on how to lead the investigation- they followed it religously and then he ruled against it. Inside job.
