I am so absolutely thrilled that he is taking on corporate lobbyists like this! I have been waiting for Democrats to do this! Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! This is so important. I totally agree with him -- this is the reason we don't have health care in this country.

1. If you REALLY want to know why we don't have health care, watch Kucinich's
His response was real, impassioned, articulate and detailed. On the "News" afterward (actually, not news at all; rather, Chris Matthews show), the clip they showed of DK was of him joking about being a vegan with a hot wife. Har har har har. After his incredible responses, that's what MSNBC decided to use as the clip/summation of DK's response. But they showed Hillary practically pounding her fist saying SHE would make health care a priority, in that same rote, cliche-driven tone we've heard a thousand times. Edwards isn't far behind. He's much, much better than Clinton or Obama, but he still doesn't hold a candle to DK. Too bad the media is determined not to let us take DK seriously.

But hey, he's a vegan with a hot wife!

3. Kucinich is a good guy...
But he won't get it done, and Edwards will. We need universal health care. I'm not willing to wait until everyone can get behind single payer. Besides, Edwards has a back door to single payer in his plan.

7. I like Kucinich too however
he has not persuaded congress to pass his legislation though he has been advocating it for quite a while.

I think Edwards would be very receptive to Kucinich's input and help in congress.

10. There is a REAL DIFFERENCE on how Kucinich would promote
Edited on Mon Aug-27-07 09:42 PM by slipslidingaway
his healthcare plan vs. what Edwards said in this clip.

Kucinich would bypass the lobbyists and take his cause directly to the American people! Saying that you will fight the lobbyists only legitimizes their power.

Edwards will fight the lobbyists. Why should they dictate our laws and future of our country?

Kucinich, if elected, would take his plan directly to the people who would then be able to pressure their elected representatives.

In this way Kucinich gives power to the people, not to the special interests.

A major difference in how they would approach the problem.

And if he was elected he might receive adequate air time :)

Kucinich explains it here, two and half minutes

4. You have to take them on!
"(Sen. Clinton’s) lesson is to give them a seat at the table. I think if you give drug companies and insurance companies a seat at the table, they will eat all the food. I think you have to take power away from them. I do not think they're ever going to voluntarily give away their power. You have to take them on, confront them, and fight them. I think that is the way we have universal health care – you have to take them on, confront them, and fight them." ~John Edwards at LiveStrong Forum

5. impressive...how matthews handles edwards then edwards...
handles matthews right back.

edwards populism is evolving...i notice how he tempers his hard edge with that little homespun bit about them eating all the food etc...i know more and more people who edwards is starting to attract all of a sudden, most of the younger office guys go for the tough populism (for them its mostly just the talking tough) and most older blue collar types like him too for nary the same reason...and sorry to say it, "he's the white guy"...their words of course.
