2. Nice but
Ask anyone in Florida, and they will tell you, when Crist was accepted by the GOP, he was all too happy to play by GOp rules, especially when it came to money and education. Charlie only showed a spine when it was very clear that Jeb Bush had already signed the death warrant for his political career.

I am also wary of a bunch of "independents" that are really old school GOP, ala Lieberman.

3. He was on the Bill Press Show this morning.
He stated flatly he did not support gay marriage. So he may not be a card carrying member of the GOP but he's not a liberal either.

4. I appreciate the fact he moved far enough left to
veto the ultra-sound abortion bill.

"This bill places an inappropriate burden on women seeking to terminate pregnancy," Crist wrote in his veto message, saying he put his personal "prolife" views aside in making the decision.

"Personal views should not result in laws that unwisely expand the role of government and coerce people to obtain medical tests or procedures that are not medically necessary," he said.

I may not be a full supporter of Crist yet, but I do think most people are redeemable and he is on the right track..

5. A political chameleon, but far from the worst Florida has seen.

He was on the right side of the teacher pay bill, the abortion issue mentioned higher in the thread, and spearheaded a decent environmental proposal for part of the Everglades that stalled, but was a landmark in its scope. He notably snubbed Bush in '08. However far "left" he has allegedly gone, he was not quite a prototypical Florida Republican monstrosity to begin with.

We shall see.

6. It's tough decision for FL Democrats
If Meek has any strengths as a candidate, they are hard to see. We should all fear Rubio.
