16. But those people could only do that because ....
... the White House allowed them to (if they didn't actually outright encourage them). The White House allowed Baucus to derail health care.

18. I went to the state convention in
Athens Ga. We saw one of the guys you're talking about, well, one of the kind of representatives you're talking about. Congressman John Barrow had the nerve to stand up there and talk about "doing the right thing" even though you might have to pay a price for it. He was referring specifically to the voting rights act of '64. He probably would have been one of the guys who voted against it out of political considerations. He also said that if Democrats would support him, he'd support Democrats. I think they've already supported him, and he sticks a knife in their backs to thank them.

Won't hold up a pile of mush (which is what Barrow is).

22. Thank you!
About two minutes into an earlier speech he gave, before the GADCC (Ga. assoc of county chairs), I was about to pass out. I got up and went to the men's restroom. Another guy came in, and you know, you're not supposed to talk, but I said something about I had to get out of there or I'd fall asleep. He says yeah, especially with that guy. I "bellyached" about him using conservative frames and language like "I'm against the death tax," which came from one of his ads, and the guy says "yeah I know, and 'I'm for smaller goverment.'"

31. Welcome to DU, BEZERKO, from a former Georgia resident!
I spent my first 19 yrs. in GA and have now been a TN resident much longer than that. Our choices of democratic politicians around here has a tendency to drive a person a little crazy, or to drink to hold off the crazy a little longer! :hi:

You think Cenk was also not right on the substance and or you're referring to the tone and style of the interaction.

37. DINO congressmen were definitely an issue...but...
The White House is also to blame for going along with it which has made them look complicit in wanting to water-down HCR. Obama's bizarre weakness in defending the PO is even worse. So Halperin is wrong and I agree with Cenk on this one.

6. So tired of centrist whining "it's the best we could do..." and then
heading out to the club with their buddies at Goldmand Sachs. Centrists destroy everything in their path

from war, to energy deregulation to off shore drilling to torture kto spying on us...

anything that requires principals of fairnes and justice FOR ALL, the centrist can't be bothered.

The centrist motto, sing it with me:

"it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that bling.... do wa do wa dowa dowa"

8. K & R. Don't look for Cenk to be on much longer.
Must . . . find . . . someone . . . who . . . doesn't . . . introduce .. . . the painfully obvious excuses with capitulating politicians and Congress.

"Don't have the votes" my ACE. Why don't you just admit that the fuckers in D.C., with the exception of a guarded few, are of the Money Party? Corporations are dictating national policy and that is fucking bullshit.

11. Yep, and it is because they all depend on the big contributions...
they (expect to) receive (and in many cases, have already received) from the corporations (which in turn, get that 'extra' money from raising the prices of everything they sell), so in the end, it's like they corrupt politicians with the people's money they suck out of their earnings, by selling them overpriced goods and services.

Instead of paying more taxes that would provide a nationwide public funded system, which would tie all politicians to do the People's bidding, we have corporate thieves and corrupt politicians who will go out of their way to screw the people who elect tnem over and over again.

But which (actual) pols would ever want to change the corrupt 'status quo' system?

17. Well, the Pharmaceutical deal
is the single most egregious thing done by the Obama Administration so far, imo. The unjustified price of drugs in this country causes real suffering. I have seen this first hand.

The problem should have been addressed and it could have been addressed. A HCR bill with provisions that allowed re-importation of drugs would have passed through budget reconciliation just as the bill enacted did.

19. halperin's defending obamaRahmGibbs speaks volumes
corporate dems: obama, rahm, gibbs--we used to call them republicans. They still are republicans. they get money from the board rooms and votes from teevee-addled chumps, that is to say US. Lyndon Johnson was the last Democratic president who paid more than lip service to the working man. Jimmuh, Bubba, and Obama rode the Democratic Party brand name to office, but the sausage they sold us has contained ever more Republican sawdust per pound. Now it's just about all Republican sawdust. We've been duped.

Howard Dean argues for change within the existing party because to reject the existing party means losing several elections. He's a smart guy, and he's got sand, but corporate money owns the party. How do individuals, even Web-connected networks of individuals, defeat a PR budget like that?

23. Dowd is such a hypocrite
She seems to enjoy putting a poison pen to paper and sticking the shiv in Dem ribs. So, now, she wants to go after liberals and she has to make believe she hasn't been one of the naysayers over the decades? I'm glad Cenk is challenging her and Gibbs.

Mark my words, before it's over Maureen Dowd will channel her inner sociopath and paint herself as the victim.

24. fan-damn-tastic and thanks for posting Cheryl
I just read Dowd's piece this morning. She said just what Cenk said she said. Am sick of this centrist attitude as well. Whining because they don't have the votes is pure bs. What about the finance bill pretending to be reform? The public is ticked because they let them down on both issues. We absolutely believe in accountablity. We expect to eat some dung but not bowlfuls. Guess when I heard the word 'change' I should have thought of pennies and nickles.

Thank you MSNBC for putting Cenk on along with Rachel and Keith and Ed. Great job!

30. I'm not sure if MSNBC posted the Halperin segment on Ed's homepage...
But just in case: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30031533/

They have transcripts with every video, so if you find the video, you'll find the transcript. Option B is watch tonight from home, but you knew that.

.... 80% of the general public wanted a Public Option in the HC bill.

So, why couldn't the real "professional Left"... those who are supposed to be Democrats working in the Government and the CHIEF EXECUTIVE... why couldn't that professional left get it passed?

EPIC FAIL.
