Rachel Maddow highlights Obama administration's competent use of USAID since he came into office.

She also talks about how the govt. spends so much money on military might and so little on USAID.

Why do we spend so much on things that make people hate us and so little on programs like USAID that makes people like us AND makes their lives better.

Not to say that the US shouldn't give more aid to developing nations, but USAID is a CIA front with a questionable history in spooky shenanigans in places like Haiti.

2. well I think Rachel is saying it should be more focused on

development. USAID isn't a CIA front it's just that the CIA at one time used USAID as a cover.

Honestly I can't say CIA activity in Central America is that spooky because you can't judge history by today's standards.

Most of the people who built the CIA were liberals in the Truman admin.

3. The OP makes an excellent point...

The previous administration's actions managed to turn many of our traditional allies against us. It's been the job of the current administration to turn that around... :(
