Conservative group Freedom's Watch today launched ads in Kentucky in support of the Iraq War.

In the ad, the group uses the mother of a solider killed in Iraq to tell viewers another 9/11 attack will occur if we change course.

5. The Propaganda Videos
I watched all 4 videos which had people supporting the mess in Iraq and wasn't moved at all because all 4 merely parroted the bush talking points which are bs and lies. Once you remove emotions out of the equation you can react objectively. And I feel NOTHING for any of those people. I'm not an ogre or coldblooded - I merely state a fact of life. You see, I knew the war was a crock of crap BEFORE we even invaded so I am not moved by any supporters of it. As far as I'm concerned they are as criminal as Bush. The invasion was a criminal act and anyone supporting such an act are no different than Bush.

14. Thanks.
Thanks - this site is pretty good for free speech. One of the few that allows you to say practically anything.

10. Exactly...
Would you feel sorry for a friend who just lost 10 grand betting on black, and wants you to lend him another 10 grand so that he can keep on betting on black thinking that way the 10 grand he initially lost will not look that bad?

The way I see it, a normal human being who has suffered such a loss would do anything in their power to prevent other people from experiencing such a loss themselves. Some of these assholes want more people to experience suffering so that they may desperately find a raison d'etre for their own sacrifice. How fucked up is that? I guess it is true what they say about misery wanting company.

Either that or GOP-Cola is the strongest flavor of Kool-Aid, in which case I recommend these poor saps to stop drinking and start thinking.

23. I agree, she thinks that if we stay it will help.
We are Oil carpetbaggers damaging an already devastated people. Al qaeda which means, the base, was not the reason we went into Iraq. She has been mislead, along with many others. So sad that she has fallen under the Corporate plow.

4. Thankfully, there are a number of us in Louisville who are quite verbal...
about our opposition not only to the Iraq slaughter, but to McConnell's re-election as well.

8. Lots of people ...
believe that 9/11 and Iraq are connected.

To much of this country, brown people just want to attack us; from all directions.
Country names, ethnicity doesn't really matter. :)

11. Does this garbage still work -- ????
It would seem to me that by now people must be getting pretty suspicious about what Bush has done -- even if they believe in war as a way to solve problems!!!

The woman I watched was, perhaps, an actress? The words are intended to spin facts - reality.

I don't believe that any honest person could, for instance, fail to understand that we invaded another nation -- "illegally." That the United Nations stood against us.

And if they don't know that Iraq had nothing whatsoever to do with 9/11, they are really, really stupid!!!!

16. Vicki Strong reminds me of "Georgette" from Mary Tyler Moore
... except that Georgette' naivete was endearing; Vicki's is just pathetic.

"Jesse died for our freedom (by going to Iraq)" {How?}

"...we're making progress in Iraq..." --> {Not according to our own intelligence.}

"If we "surrender..." --> {Exiting from an illegal and mismanaged war of choice is not "surrender."}

"... it's giving the message to terrorists..." --> {Terrorists? You mean the Iraqis who resent our illegal occupation?}

"We're startng to see progress (in Iraq)." --> {Again, not according to our own intelligence.}

"We already had one 9/11. We don't need another." --> {There's no connection between Iraq and 9/11. Nice try, though.}

The phone number given in the ad - so anyone who drinks their Kool-Aid can pester their representatives - is 1-877-222-8001. I'm going to call and ask a few pointed questions. I suggest that others do as well.

17. Calling the phone number will get you this recorded message..
"Thank you for calling Freedom's Watch. Our operators are helping Americans call Congress in support of our war on terror. We will get to your call shortly. Please hold and the next available operator will help you connect with Congress so you can tell them to finish the job in Iraq for America's freedom."

After a while you'll get a live (but not especially enlightened) person who will ask:

"Do you believe surrendering in Iraq will increase the terrorist threat to America?"

If you respond in the negative, they'll assure you that your opinion will be duly noted and tell you to have a nice day.

I've never answered in the affirmative but suspect that if I did they'd help determine my Senators and Rep so I could parrot the Freedom's Watch crap.

18. pathetic
The right wing is using mothers of dead soldiers who obviously want to believe their kid's death meant something; when in fact, they died only for Bush's vanity. A disgusting, abusive ad.
