3. Smith is the only journalist at Fox "News".
The rest are all right-wing wackos and blonde bimbos with fat, shiny lips.

12. Smith has consistantly showed "cojones" like that
He was down in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina screaming bloody murder at the inadequate federal response.

He told a group that looked like the people Dick Armey would later snooker into disrupting town hall meetings that the failure of Bush policies, not the liberal media, was responsible for the results of the 2008 election.

He apologized to his audience for a Fox correspondent doing a softball interview with a Republican candidate while there was never any intention of interviewing his Democratic opponent. The brass, however, made him retract the apology.

He said concerning waterboarding, alluding to Reagan, "You can't be the shining city on the hill and do torture."

Now this. This is how everybody, including the NAACP, the White House and the Agriculture Department, should have responded to Breitbart: We didn't run with the story because we don't trust this source.

Through all this Smith remains a conservative commentator. He merely shows that being a conservative doesn't mean you can't call a horse a horse or a spade a spade. If that were the rule rather than the exception at FoxNews, it would be a conservative news outlet we could live with.

9. Shep Steps Up!
He obviously is prone to call BS and not follow the network playbook, I'm surprised he's still there.

10. Something tells me that he wants out of Faux News and is doing whatever he can to piss them off.
I can see him going to either NPR or a local station for a large city, probably Atlanta.

I wonder if all of this is planned by those jack asses over at Fox News to give them some sliver of credibility. You wonder if Shep is the guy they run out there to make it seem likes they are Fair and Balanced as they like to crow about themselves. I hope he isn't, but with Fox, you never know.
By the way on this whole Shirley Sherrod thing. The Dems again came across as W-I-M-P-S. Outside of a couple of people in Congress, the administration and others looked terribly weak and ineffective. When are some of these guys going to grow some bigger balls and tell all these scumbags like Breitbart and others to go to hell. I'm a huge Democrat, but they embarrass me sometimes with stuff like this. Grow some spine!!!

15. No, it wouldn't work that way
If I owned a cable news channel and wanted to present an image of journalistic integrity, I would hire Shep Smith but I would also hire Rachel Maddow, Amy Goodman and others who present a point of view without letting their ideological agendas get in the way of the facts. I would not hire Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly or Glenn Beck, nor would I allow Ann Coulter to make any, let alone frequent, guest appearances.

As it is, one of the reasons Shep Smith looks so good is because the rest of FoxNews is so bad.

16. Shep's a good guy for a repug. He has spoken out against torture, the lack of help to Katrina
victims, and now this.

I think he must be the last moderate republican in the news industry. He belongs on a network like CNN not faux noose.

18. Pretty Bad when FoxNews speaks more truth than
some of the apologist here at D.U.

So let the "Third Way", "New Democratic Party", Quislings Quibble while their corporate masters applaud themselves with champagne and caviar on such a job well done.

Republicrats ! What a sorry assed state our body politic has become

20. I'd give him more credit
if he'd said this while sitting with Faux & Friends or with Hannity or Beck. A standalone rant is good, just not good enough.

a morning news reader who's pretty good, too. He used to be on the Daily Buzz show.
