Most people do not answer a number they do not recognize as well they should. Aside from pesky telemarketers there are scammers and area codes that will charge you outrageous sums of money. If you don't know the number there is a 99 percent chance it's just someone wanting your money. So never answer a number you don't recognize. Most people know this except for the very gullible and non net savvy elderly. That is why polls are a useless outdated method for gauging public opinion and polling companies truly need to change their methods in order to keep up with the times or go the way of the dodo....like the yellow pages.

And TV ratings....puleeze. With netflix and being able to watch shows on the web TV ratings are again an outdated gauge of popularity. I never watch TV. I watch Rachel and Keith and Jon Stewart on the web usually the next day sometimes waiting until the weekend watching several shows all at once while working out. Between working full time and being a mother entertainment has to be flexible to my schedule, not the other way around. I imagine it is the same for most everyone else, no? If the entertainment industry truly wants an accurate measure of viewers they need to incorporate web viewing and netflix rentals. I'm sure they'll change their methodology eventually....

16. I think the bigger issue is that Fox and conservatives/ republicans are

absolutely terrified of her. Marco Rubio has an ad against her assuming that so many people in FL know or even watch her show. She's telling the truth and offering great insight and analysis into what and who they are. She went really in-depth with her reporting on The Family.. That was what made her a real radar blip on their screen. Its what has made her their "fear". She can systematically dismantle them and their irrational talking points easily.

What's even more telling is that she, of lesser ratings, generalized the Fox news team.. I think she showed more clips of the morning team than any other on the Fox channel when she was doing the "white people fear others" segment. But Fox responded via O'Reilly.. the big dog.. and his line is that he has more viewers.. no one watches Rachel.. So, then if no one watches and he's the big man on campus, why is he spending anytime defending himself or Fox?

And with the whole ratings issue? How many more tivo, youtube, ipod/ cast rachel instead of turning the channel to MSNBC during 9pm? Liberal people are normally a little more connected to technology than the old white people who are sitting around their tv, falling asleep over their bowl of ice cream each evening.

I am an "older people" While I do like a bowl of ice cream anytime I can get one, I do not fall asleep over it. I do record Rachel every night just in case I fall asleep. (G) No really I record her in case I want to review something.
On another note I once saw an add for some sort of remote one could use to change channels on any tv found in a public place airing faux noise.
I went to the doctor a few days ago and a younger people was entering the same time as me. He had his two sons aged teen and pre-teen I guess. He said to his sons. "Well we ain't coming back here again." Son number 1 asked "Why ?" he replied "No weapons." There was a sign on the door prohibiting concealed weapons. Not being in a confrontational mood I said nothing. I just thought, good deal the last thing i want is a gunfight at the doctors office.

No MSNBC. On the other hand. I get 3 Home Shopping programs, 3 Spanish(I don't speak Spanish), Faux news(over my dead body),a sports channel, don't watch that, plus 2 PBS and my town channel. Pretty meager. This is the basic offering from Comcast in my area. Terrible!

I try to catch up on Rachel and Keith the next day but I miss half of the shows. I am really not one to sit on my desk chair to watch TV.

You may want to call your provider and do some violent complaining. Tell em you are going to cancel your service if they cannot or will not provide you with what you want. Tell them you will trade them 3 Spanish channels and faux for MSNBC. Tell them you can get Dish or Direct tv for less or the same amount of money. Tell them you want to talk to a supervisor. I have used this method with Dish network with some success. Getting baseball games that they tried to tell me were blacked out and getting repairs at no charge with no contract to sign. This is a very competitive business and sometimes screaming helps.

distributed. I get MSNBC because I have a BUD. When they turn off the BUD in December, I will have to go to Dish or Direct to get cable news.

Dish package incl The Noise Factor is is 39.99 per month. To get MSNBC is 54.99 per month.

Direct package 58.99 but you get both.

Cox cable, which I don't have access to, charges an upcharge for MSNBC.

So, you have two large programming providers that don't provide MSNBC on their basic. I have always wondered if that was reflected in the ratings.
