A union Leader at the SPP protest in Quebec outs some agent provocateurs armed with rocks (likely undercover cops) and defuses a potential riot situation.

5. Just another example of false flag terrorism.
For those who think our "democratic" governments or their agents would not intentionally cause harm to innocent citizens in order to foment strife.

17. Agents provocateurs active at Montebello?
Agents provocateurs active at Montebello?

Report of official cameraperson being roughed up follows videos from earlier in day of alleged police agents assaulting union leader.

A Youtube video shows a suspected police agent who pushed CEP president Dave Coles - YouTube.comMONTEBELLO, QUEBEC, August 21: Legitimate protestors at the Montebello summit talks believe they have been inflitrated and victimized by plainclothes agents of the police or security forces.

An amateur video posted on the website Youtube.com, yesterday, and entitled "Stop SPP Protest - Union Leader stops provocateurs" shows a national union president confronted and assaulted by masked men while attempting to keep protestors within boundaries set by authorities. The three men, dressed like "Black Bloc" anarchist protestors, defied Dave Coles, the President of the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers of Canada, who directed them to stay in their designated area. "Take your mask off, brother," and "Put the rock down," Coles said repeatedly. The video shows one of the men, in a ball cap with the word "Spike" on it, hanging onto the bandana over his face and forcefully shoving Coles as he attempted to keep order.

Stuart Trew, of the Council of Canadians, saw the video and spoke with people who were there. "You'll hear them screaming 'Policier, policier!' (police). Eventually Coles looks the guy in the eyes and says 'You're a police officer'."

As Trew said, "They slip behind and start nudging the police line, you can't see if they're saying anything because of their bandanas, the police let them through eventually and take them down to the ground, and appear to arrest them." Trew points out that two agitators had matching bandanas and that there was "a substantial size difference, and what looks likes an age difference" from other anarchist protestors, but admits it is almost impossible to prove they were police officers.

The protest legal aid committee, however, received no report from authorities of their arrests, lending further credence to allegations the two were not genuine protestors. "Yes, these were definitely agent provocateurs, cops, and legal folks have no record of these supposed arrests," said Peoples Global Action (PGA) spokesperson John Hollingsworth at the Indie Media Centre.

SNIP

There were, however, other reports of agents provocateurs among the protestors. Dan Sawyer, a member of PGA, told HarperIndex.ca "Our group did 'out' about three undercovers in the Black Bloc and pushed them back into the police line, and then they walked off."

30. NO RECORD OF THEIR ARREST....

...

The three do not appear to have been arrested or charged with any offence.

Police confirm that only four protesters were arrested during the summit – two men and two women. All have been charged with obstruction and resisting arrest.

Veteran protester Jaggi Singh, who is helping to circulate the video as widely as possible, said all four of those arrested are known to organizers and are genuine protesters.

"But we see very clearly in that video three (other) men being arrested . . . How do (police) account for these three people being taken in, being arrested? Where did they go?" Singh said.

No record of their "arrest".
Their boots are the exact same tactical style used by the police there.
They basically volunteered to be taken in by the police ("arrested") rather than face the crowd on their own.
Their lack of training in how to respond when they are identified as police - they looked stunned.

7. How much you wanna bet some of the Anarchists at the next DC protest will be the same.
Nobody invites them. Nobody likes them. Nobody gives a shit about their 5-year-old "I'm gonna rebel bs" so why not put some cops in with them and make all the protesters look like violent morons.

Scum.

14. COINTELPRO in action.
Although covert action will be adapted to changing social and technological conditions, only a limited number of methods exist. A study of COINTELPRO revealed four basic approaches.

* First, there was infiltration. Agents and informers did not merely spy on political activists. The main purpose was to discredit and disrupt. Their presence served to undermine trust and scare off potential supporters. They also exploited this fear to smear genuine activists as agents.

* Second, there was psychological warfare from the outside. They planted false media stories and published bogus leaflets and other publications in the name of targeted groups. They forged correspondence, sent anonymous letters, and made anonymous telephone calls. They spread misinformation about meetings and events, set up pseudo movement groups run by agents, and manipulated or strong-armed parents, employers, landlords, school officials and others to cause trouble for activists.

* Third, there was harassment through the legal system, used to harass dissidents and make them appear to be criminals. Officers gave perjured testimony and presented fabricated evidence as a pretext for false arrests and wrongful imprisonment. They discriminatorily enforced tax laws and other government regulations and used conspicuous surveillance, "investigative" interviews, and grand jury subpoenas in an effort to intimidate activists and silence their supporters.

* Fourth and finally, there was extralegal force and violence. The FBI and police threatened, instigated and conducted break-ins, vandalism, assaults, and beatings. The object was to frighten dissidents and disrupt their movements. In the case of radical Black and Puerto Rican activists (and later Native Americans), these attacks, including political assassinations, were so extensive, vicious, and calculated that they can only be accurately called a form of official "terrorism."

For details, along with many examples of each of these methods, read Glick's well-documented and heavily footnoted "War At Home."

22. Agents of Repression
http://books.google.com/books?id=WMRRzpCdOzwC&dq=agents+repression

For those wondering how Bill Clinton could pardon white-collar fugitive Marc Rich but not Native American leader Leonard Peltier, important clues can be found in this classic study of the FBI's COINTELPRO (Counterintelligence Program). "Agents of Repression" includes an incisive historical account of the FBI siege of Wounded Knee, and reveals the viciousness of COINTELPRO campaigns targeting the Black Liberation movement. The authors' new introduction examines the legacies of the Panthers and AIM, and shows how the FBI still presents a threat to those committed to fundamental social change.Ward Churchill is author of "From a Native Son," Jim Vander Wall is co-author of "The COINTELPRO Papers: Documents from the FBI's Secret Wars Against Dissent in the United States," with Ward Churchill.

Read this book. It shows the lengths that the boys will go to insert provocateurs into organizations with the intent of provoking violence, unlawful activity and causing internal strife among the members.

20. Anarchist groups are totally infiltrated by undercover agents
Edited on Wed Aug-22-07 07:43 AM by formercia
and some groups may be the creation of counterintelligence organizations to identify and neutralize any 'real' anarchists or potentially violent individuals.

The best course is to out them and send them on their way in a peaceful manner.

Make sure there are plenty of people on the sidelines with video equipment, cameras and the means to upload images to prevent the boys from confiscating them on site. Make sure the date and time settings on the equipment are as accurate as possible to prevent questioning when the images and videos were taken.

16. Anarchists my eye.
More than likely these were undercover cops acting as agent provocateurs trying to start a disturbance that would bring in their pals in the riot squad to bash a few heads and pepper spray some protesting grannies and granddads in the face. Notice how near the end of the clip there are a few peaceful demonstrators who have been challenging the guys in the masks with the rocks and these peaceful demonstrators are standing between the masked guys and a line of riot police. When the masked guys realize the game is up and no one is falling for their ploy to start a riot and the union guy has openly challenged one of them that he is really a cop in disguise, watch how eagerly they force their way through the peaceful demonstrators and seemingly intentionally throw themselves straight into the arms of the waiting riot police. No flipping way these guys are real anarchists. Notice also at the end of the clip, the consensus by the observers at the scene apparently from the way things went down was that they were dealing with undercover cops and not real anarchists. The lady talking at the end of the film clip is Maude Barlow, a very prominent and experienced anti-war, anti-globalization, Canadian sovereignty activist with an international reputation and one who has been around the block a few times at these types of events, you might say. I would have no reason to doubt her judgment on this matter.

23. Those cops outed themselves, IMO..
You are right, Johny...The way those guys pushed themselves through the protest line and INTO THE ARMS of the police is ludicrous. Ha hahaha! They couldn't have outed themselves better if they were carrying signs saying, "Hello! I'm a cop."

Why would anyone who had been carrying rocks and threatening violence just moments before jump right into the midst of a group of riot police?? They're not too swift in the brains dept. Pffft!!

27. Could the police have screwed this one up on purpose.
I can't believe the police were so dumb as to make themselves so obvious. They may have to follow orders, but they don't have to do it well.

A late uncle of mine had to retire from the RCMP because he broke the arm of another officer that was using excessive force during an interrogation. He had been captured at Dunkirk and spent the War in a Nazi concentration camp. He had seen enough of that kind of brutality from the germans. He just snapped. They let him off by letting him retire early.

32. Not to mention - they didn't use their "rocks".
Their plan was to get the crowd stirred up - wait until it was chaotic - then they would throw the rocks when they couldn't be singled out. Then the riot police are authorized to react violently to shut the protest down.

They didn't use their rocks because they were already singled out and their mission had failed, in that their identities were revealed (both facial and occupational).
