1. Pot is something anyone can
grow. And therein lies the problem. The big powerful interests can't see a way to monopolize marijuana like they do alcohol. Maybe if the government controlled marijuana like they do alcohol the underground pot farmers would go away. But maybe they wouldn't. Unlike California in the rest of the country marijuana growing is well hidden.

It is all about control. If corporations aren't in control of something that makes big money, they soon will be. We really have to entertain the distinct possibility that the only reason pot remains illegal is because it is HUGELY profitable to some people in very influential places.

2. Anyone can grow Tomatoes but that
Edited on Fri Jul-16-10 05:42 AM by SkyDaddy7
has not hurt the tomato industry...Most would rather just go to the store and buy it. Plus, to grow good high quality Cannabis takes time, knowledge and money! Unlike tomatoes which are very easy to grow, cheap and still most do not do it. And according to that Rand Corp. study prices could fall as much as 80% which would make it really hard to grow cannabis for a huge profit like they do now.

Besides the alcohol companies who spend millions to keep cannabis illegal I think the problem is government control...Especially local & state governments who fund their police armies with drug money and selling folks valuables they catch with pot. Plus, the most popular line cops use in police reports when they search someone's car they pulled over is "I thought I smelled what could have been marijuana emanating from the vehicle"...Regardless if they find pot or not that is the catch all to search anyone's car or home.

BTW-If pot was legalized nationwide corporations would get into the action...And over time some small stores will develope into huge corporations like the alcohol companies did.

4. I totally agree about Marijuana being legalized, but
why do they have to harp on alcohol? We tried making alcohol illegal, remember? I know they're only trying to make a point, but nothing goes better with a beer than a joint.

You can quote me on that. ;)
