I'd wondered how the right would bring up the op-ed written by the members of the 82nd Airborne in the NYT's "The War As We Saw It" and here we have Tucker chatting with Retired Colonel Jack Jacobs on the subject.

I knew wingnuts would need to tread lightly when mentioning the 82nd, and indeed they did. Here they say that they believe these soldiers "thought they were performing a public sercive" when in reality they are a "detriment to the moral authority."

Neither say who -- or what -- the moral authority is, in fact, Tucker actually says that he doesn't even trust George W. Bush's assessment of the surge in Iraq.

Perhaps Tucker is waiting for Jeebus to appear to him in a toasted cheese sammich, or Ebeneezer Scrooge in the middle of the night, to tell him the war is stoopid, and it's time for America to go home.

-Diane

also have the full video up on my site of the ABC-Dem Iowa debates, too late for me to post 'em all tonight. Maybe in the morning if there's any interest. Nite, all.

Peace.

1. I've heard it said: war is the absence of reason...America is a faith, celebrity...
money, product/consumer, and vanity driven system for the most part. Not all that much to do with reason certainly anytime in the last 20 years or so up till now so yeah...

war is the absence if reason

2. No wonder
Tucker's show is failing. He's trying to push the Administration's agenda but the facts get in his way. He blathered on for over six minutes and said nothing. So long to Tucker and let's hope others of his ilk leave with him. He can always find a spot at Pox(deliberate typo)News even though they posted his home phone number on their web site. If Tucker is so dumb that he doesn't understand the predatory nature of the right wing he gets what he deserves. There comes a time when you have to say enough already. The majority of us reached that point. Those who continue to carry water for the Bush cartel will soon be unemployed, and Pox has only so many openings. I imagine Tucker pushing a shopping cart full of cans and bottles up and down Constitution Avenue and living under the bridge to Arlington.
Note to Tucker: What will you tell your children?

7. send Tucker elsewhere
The DC area has enough problems without adding another bedraggled homeless guy in a bow-tie spouting right-wing nonsense. Maybe they'll take him in the Midwest, but the DC area is all filled up with crazies--and that's just the ones on Capitol Hill.

4. Pathetic
Tucker is grasping to the argument that these guys can't really speak about what all Iraqis think because they don't really know. Therefore, the arguments made by the soldiers are worthless. That is all he has here. Forget that this is another piece of the puzzle that fits nicely with the other pieces of information we have. Forget that these men speak daily to many other soldiers about their experiences. Forget that these men speak with Iraqi civilians on a daily basis.

No, as Tucker says, they really can't know what everyone in Iraq believes so their op-ed piece is garbage.

Pathetic.

8. yep...funny
Tucker is much better certified to analyze what is going on in Iraq than non-coms in the field.

What a joke he is.

Tucker: You need to get a job at a journalism school, I think.

Stewart: You need to go to one.

10. A couple of total tools using their "pedestals" to continue the Bush
admins policy of B.S. THe soldiers Op-ed piece was the most honest and well written account of what is really going on in Iraq that I have seen from our military. It stung of the truth and Tucker can't have that being the right wing shill that he is. He was a cheerleader for the war and as soon as it started going bad he and others like Joe Scarborough or Lou Dobbs suddenly start saying they never thought it was a good idea. Why does he still have a show on TV? Dan Abrams obviously sees at this point that Keith Olbermanns ratings are up because he is on the side of decency and truth. Why doesn't Dan get rid of Tucker's sniveling spoiled little frat boy self? Surely there is good honest intelligent new talent out there that could easily beat the ratings Tucker's sad ass gets? Those soldiers deserve a medal for real bravery but we can all be sure the Bush admin and cronies like Tucker will do their best to discredit and punish the soldiers all the while waving the American flag.

11. tucket is such a shill...with "selective reservations"......little neocon pig
tucker does a very careful analysis of this "op ed" from front line veterans, but he swallows hook line and sinker from the chimp, rummy, lieberslam, mcCain, and the other repug pigs who want to continue this madness. Wish he had such "reservations" about them as well, especially since they are far removed from the situation and have a history of lying and bullshit, where these service men DON'T. What a shill!

I would rather believe their view "through a straw" at what THEY see than to to buy into this crap the administration "dreams up" from no where.

12. Where is the analysis...
Jacobs has been rah, rah, rahing everysince the occupation began. Now the soldiers on the ground words aren't good enough. So I guess this is how they are supporting the troops.

13. Was the retired colonel's facial language mocking everything Tucker said?
...It looked like as guest while listening was so desperately trying to control his mouth from spitting "Tucker, you are such a dumb shit!"

Tucker Carlson dropped the stupid bow tie. I almost fell out of my seat when I first saw him. Then again those things are really difficult to tie :)
