What is a Deficit?
Money in (Taxes - but you can't raise taxes and the Republicans would prefer you lower them) -Money out (Spending - but you can't cut defense spending because the Republicans make a lot of money off that) ____________________ Very Large Deficit
As far as the Cons/Republicans (actually I think the 'Cons' should be like in con man not conservative) are concerned the idea is to starve the government for money, kill all the programs they never wanted in the first place, and to become as rich and powerful as possible. Oh and for all those lower and middle class Republicans the rich and powerful thing doesn't really apply to you because you are not one of the 'good Republicans'.
In the end if the deficit is the problem then everything has to be on the table that includes raising taxes, cutting military spending, cutting social spending. I liked Clinton's pay as you go idea. If you want new spending then you have to cut somewhere else. Do people realize that the rich are bitching about their taxes going back up 3% points to where it was before. Do they realize what the tax was on these people back in the 1950's-1960's. The fact is these people don't want to contribute to the social good because they have theirs and if you don't have yours you're just a lazy, no good, hobo, drug-addict and deserve your position in life.
