'ON THEIR SIDE'.... In recent months, we've seen Democrats push some campaign themes to describe Republicans, usually relying on "Party of No." Thanks in part to Rep. Joe Barton's (R-Texas) apology to BP, a new theme seems to be emerging.

The Democratic National Committee released this new clip today -- it's not a television ad, just a web video -- connecting Barton to a larger trend of GOP leaders siding with powerful interests over the needs of the public. The name of the ad is, "On Their Side."

If you can't watch clips from your work computer, the video starts with on-screen text that reads, "On The Side of Big Oil," followed by Barton's apology to BP's Tony Hayward. We then see, "On The Side of Insurance Companies," followed by a clip of Mitt Romney arguing that health insurance companies have nothing to do with health care being too expensive. The third hit says, "On The Side of Wall Street," followed by Michael Steele urging Americans to trust Wall Street to help the economy.

The wrap-up: "Republicans: This Is How They Would Govern."

It's not subtle, but it's effective. If the midterm elections are going to be nationalized, it's only reasonable to highlight who'll benefit from a GOP majority.

3. You gotta follow that Right Jab with a Left Hook!
Scare the hell out of them with the Republicans, the blanket them in the warmth of Democratic safety. Healthcare, 20 Billion from BP, and ...well, we don't really have a lot of Wall Street reform to stand behind. :(

4. Sadly
The effectiveness of this depends on the IQ of those who see it. If this is viewed by ardent Fox fans, they'll see it as a lauding of the GOP!

7. The problem is that this is only a web ad, and they are NOT putting this on TV.
The main people who will see this are people on the net who already agree with it. It will not be in-your-face on TV shows where Republicans are watching. It won't be shown during sports games or things like that. It won't be on TV at all.

So the DNC is STILL shooting with blanks

BELIEVE IT OR NOT.

What is wrong with putting this ad on TV?

This ad is designed to shut up the Democratic netroots who are complaining about "No Drama Obama" not getting tough enough with the GOP. See? We finally came out with a tough, in-your-face ad in the same in-your-face style the GOP has been using so successfully against us. But ooooooh! We can't actually put this on TELEVISION. EEEEEEEK! Somebody might get MAD at us for not being a wet noodle!!!!!!!

The DNC CONTINUES TO BE A BUNCH OF SPINELESS WIMPS AND WET NOODLES GOING TO THEIR NAMBY PAMBY POSITIVE THINKING SEMINARS. This is all FAKE because it is not getting UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL where Republicans live. The DNC/DLC/White House is under pressure from the netroots who are SCREAMING at them to stop being wet noodles and hit the other side for a change so they came out with this web clip that WILL ONLY BE SEEN BY THE SAME DEMOCRATS ON THE NET WHO ARE COMPLAINING IN THE FIRST PLACE. No ad buy. No TV purchases. Just, dear party base, shut up so we can go back to being LEAVE IT TO BEAVER.

The whole truth about this is found in the fact that they AREN'T putting this on TV. SO THEY ARE STILL SHOOTING WITH BLANKS.

WHAT A BUNCH OF GROVELING INGRAINED WIMPS!

8. I was just about to post asking whether or not this was being shown on TV
It's a pretty powerful ad. They need to spend a few bucks to get this on TV.

9. Maybe they're limiting their spending for when it matters more.
It's expensive to air this stuff.

I'm sure if you'd care to finance it, they'd put it on the tube.
