The GOP is still out there defending BP, even after Rep. Joe Barton had to retract his apology to BP CEO Tony Hayward. First, the Republicans cried that Obama wasn't doing enough about the Gulf oil spill crisis, and now they're complaining that he's overstepped his bounds. Mike Papantonio appears on MSNBC's The Ed Show to take on the GOP and their defense of this corrupt corporation.

3. Grrrrrrr.
Too much of people talking all over each other. I wish they had spoken more to the Pollution Act of 1990 -- is it for real? I usually really like Papantonio, but he didn't seem prepared to talk about the specifics of this Act. And too much Faux News-like talking over each other.

5. I think the Tea Bagger was referring to this...
§1004 The liability for tank vessels larger than 3,000 gross tons is increased to $1,200 per gross ton or $10 million, whichever is greater. Responsible parties at onshore facilities and deepwater ports are liable for up to $350 million per spill; holders of leases or permits for offshore facilities, except deepwater ports, are liable for up to $75 million per spill, plus removal costs. The Federal government has the authority to adjust, by regulation, the $350 million liability limit established for onshore facilities.

EPA

The figure "$75 million" has been bandied about as what BP would have to pay to clean up its mess. Of course, that won't come close.

I suppose he' saying that what Obama did is un-Constitutional; that Obama went beyond this Act by demanding that BP pay more...much more, and by not simply adhering to the tenets of this Act and accepting the $75 million cap.

Never mind this Act was created in 1990 when Bush the Elder was in office and a much-more oil-corporation friendly administration was in power.

At least that's the way I interpret it...
