1. It's almost bizarre to hear a truthful reporter
and not "hurray for the surge and the liberation!"

Even though the truth is so awful...those poor people.

4. Ethnic cleansing has been taking place in Baghdad and Basra on our watch
and we have been arming BOTH sides.

11. Laurie Garrett told of this cleansing by the US as being on the agenda back in Feb., 2003
when attending the WEF at Davos, Switzerland.

http://lists.topica.com/lists/psychohistory/read/message.html?mid=1711891071&sort=d&start=4389

<snip>
I learned from American security and military speakers that, "We need
to attack Iraq not to punish it for what it might have, but
preemptively, as part of a global war. Iraq is just one piece of a
campaign that will last years, taking out states, cleansing the planet."

The entire email from Garrett is worth a reviewing.
I know the first time I read it back in 2003, Garrett presented a very clear picture of a very grim future, most of which is based upon the US and its bullying tactics and failing/stagnant economy.

25. Maybe things are going as planned for the new Nazis....
According to Family Security Matters, a front group for the Center for Security Policy:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x1574242

If President Bush copied Julius Caesar by ordering his army to empty Iraq of Arabs and repopulate the country with Americans, he would achieve immediate results: popularity with his military; enrichment of America by converting an Arabian Iraq into an American Iraq (therefore turning it from a liability to an asset); and boost American prestiege while terrifying American enemies.

He could then follow Caesar's example and use his newfound popularity with the military to wield military power to become the first permanent president of America, and end the civil chaos caused by the continually squabbling Congress and the out-of-control Supreme Court.

Even the PPI, think tank for the DLC, writes of "draining the swamp of the Middle East". Perhaps US foreign policy has shifted toward ethnic cleansing as part of the final solution to becoming a world empire.

They should repeat that as often as possible.

6. They're all watching Fox, so they don't have to hear such things
Usually on CNN they don't either. It's like there's a fantasy version of the war that people prefer to watch.

9. How depressingly ironic
Instead of going after al Qaeda, we go after Saddam and the Sunnis. Now that we have killed tens upon tens of thousands of people who had NOTHING to do with 9/11, we are now arming those we attacked in Iraq so that THEY can defeat al Qaeda. But not only will they go after al Qaeda, but most likely American troops as payback (or pure hatred). Meanwhile, the Shia, who had welcomes the removal of Saddam will now become more anti-American because we are arming their enemies, the Sunni.

One could go on with the madness, like how bombing Iran will only add more "frustration" for American troops, but that would require my own diary. Pardon my french, but we're fucked. And when I say "we" I mean the Sunnis, the Shia, Americans. Iranians might not be fucked yet, but holy Joe and Darth Vader are working on that.

10. That's why I love Michael Ware. The first time I heard him reporting from Baghdad,
I remember thinking, "How did this get on the air?" It was a brutally honest assessment of how things
were going (badly) in Baghdad, not the usual pap we were hearing every day on TV.

He's an Australian reporter, a lawyer and, in my mind, somewhat of a renegade. This piece
(where he's speaking to Anderson Cooper) contains some very shocking assessments
of what has happened with this war. The death count is going down because there
aren't that many people left to kill? Ethnic cleansing? This guy has guts!

12. I feel bad for his family
Wife and kids if he has any-he's been there so long. On CNN he is the only voice other than Christiane that I deem believable. It's doubtful most Americans can even comprehend what in fact he's actually saying..

14. Exactly! There've been so many meaningless words spoken and written about
the war and what's happening in Iraq that I think most people don't even hear them
anymore. To my mind, what Michael Ware says in this piece is shocking and should be
the lead item on fthe irst page of every major newspaper. But it's being taken as
just another reporter, another soundbyte, another day.

13. Weren't the Baathists the party/Iraqis who backed Saddam Hussein?
Edited on Tue Aug-14-07 11:19 AM by whistle
...The Baathist Party was the Arab Socialist group which helped Saddam to keep a tight grip on the Iraqi People. So the U.S. military command have cut their deals with the party that was originally booted out and their leader Saddam publicly hung. Now the U.S. is siding with the Baathists and supporting death squad ethnic cleansing. We have a new name for our leaders: George Death Squad Bush and Dick Ethnic Cleanser Cheney

16. Notice how CNN's host repeated the phrase "Al Queda-style attacks" about 4 times
throughout the interview?

As if every "attack" by anyone in Iraq is linked to Al Queda.

Who cares? Anything to condition/brainwash the American public by promoting Bushco's lies.

The CNN propaganda machine of lies and distortions marches on.

18. Wikipedia their board of directors and you'll see why.
Time Warner has James Barksdale on their BOD who also sits on Preznit Bush's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board. Then there's Jessica Einhorn who is the former director of The Council On Foreign Relations. CNN is definitely not the "librul media".

23. how long does this guy have to live?
i mean really, am i the only person who thinks there is a great cabal who would pay massive amounts of money to have this guy silenced.

i always enjoy hearing what he has to say( even though ive already spent a lot of time there)
he has spent a LOT of time there like 4 years running now

it is totally mind-blowing to think his words can have so little effect on some people. (america is asleep, what can one man do)
