The US's history of backing Israel no matter what crimes they commit is horrid. Even the people who inadvertently funded the founding of Israel (such as Einstein) have said that Israel should not even exist according to the Torah. The Jews were charged by Yahweh to move into the Gentile nations and live with them, period.

All it is, is the far Christian right wants to cause the "end of the world." If Israel is allowed supreme power "Christ" is supposed to return and all that bull. Nonsense. We should use all our capabilities to see that Israel is prosecuted for their actions against the Turkish people and the protesters on that boat.

Once again Young Turks gets it right and breaks down the issues in a smart and fairly unbiased manner. It is appalling that the US can stand by and look impotent in the face of extreme and illegal Israeli actions. The US response was infuriating and major cause for concern. For some reason we are unable to criticize Israel in any way even when their use of force against untrained civilians is disproportionate and extreme. Its a sad week for me because I actually held out hope that this administration might finally act responsibly with regards to Israel.

You want to know why the Middle East hates us? No? You already know? Ah! of course... Israel. As the largest recipient of US aid and military, Israel is viewed as a satellite country, or proxy, of US policy in the Middle East. Their atrocities are our atrocities. The leaders, or dictators, of Middle Eastern countries use the Palestinian issue to deflect their own citizens from looking internally and criticizing them. They rally their populations around the international issue of foreign aggression and oppression. Its their way of staying in power. If there were no issue with the Palestinians many regional dictatorships would find themselves without an outsider to point to as the cause of all things evil and most likely face opposition from within. The US and Israel would no longer be the bad guys. However the US is holding all the cards for peace because we are the only reason Israel acts in the manner it does. It would be totally isolated, and much more vulnerable, without us. They might actually have to try to play nice with their neighbors if we cut them loose. We are like the big guy who holds someone down so the little guy can punch him. If we can't be openly critical of Israel at times like this than all hope is lost on finding peace in the region.. and peace for the US.

The tide of public opinion is turning against the state of Israel, I think mainly because of their apartheid and the fact they think they are above the law.

his best to remain objective in reporting this.

I want to be correct in my own judgment of Israel's actions. When I think of Israel I don't want to have a knee-jerk reaction to what I hear in the media. That said, it seems to me that the U.S. goes overboard in their support of Israel even when Israel is in the wrong. I can come to no other conclusion.

End times scripture should have no bearing on U.S. support or condemnation of Israel's actions. Unfortunately these disputed scriptures do influence many. This is why we should always be enthusiastic supporters of separation of church and state.
