McDonald's has released an ad in France welcoming gay people to their restaurants. The spot is titled "Come as you are," and shows a young gay man eating in a McDonald's with his father, who doesn't know his son is gay.

It's commendable of McDonald's to display their inclusiveness, but it's unclear why they felt the need to air such an ad at all. Were French gay people previously feeling unwelcome in McDonald's?

3. what is wrong with showing an ad with a gay teenage boy?
ok he has not come out to his father, but still it is an ad from one of the best known corporations in the world in which the main figure of the ad is gay. not only is he gay but he looks like any typical french teenager. This is a great ad for a shitty restaurant, but at least the mcdonalds corporation of france is going for the gay market!

4. I think it's a cute commercial.
Clicking through the links that follow this ad, Youtube links me to a 1980's ad with Jason Alexander, (when he had hair) pushing the McDLT... remember that one?

I heard Jason recently lost weight and now pushes for Jenny Craig or one of the other diet food plans. Coincidence?

5. Yawn! Ikea did this 15 years ago.
It isn't edgy. Especially in France. If they aired it in Zimbabwe, then there's something to celebrate.

6. I hate this ad.
This sterotypes gay men as consumers of god-awful food. The vast majority of LGBTs wouldn't be caught dead eating that trash.
