Gingrich Plays Defense On His Nazi Comparison: ‘I’m Not Saying Obama Is The Bad Guy’

http://thinkprogress.org/2010/05/29/gingrich-nazi-walkback/

Newt Gingrich sat down with the Des Moines Register editorial board this week to discuss his new book To Save America: Stopping Obama’s Secular Socialist Machine. Right at the start of the interview, a Register editor asked if Gingrich thinks “voters are stupid since they elected President Obama in 2008.” The former Speaker walked back the entire premise of his book. “The whole question of the scale of change has nothing to do with Obama,” he said.

Later in the hour-long interview, Gingrich backtracked even further. “I’m not here saying Obama is the bad guy and if he wasn’t there things would be good.” Soon after, the Register editor called Gingrich out:

DMR EDITOR: I was really taken aback by something you just said, in that “I”m not here saying Obama is the bad guy.” In your book you say, “The President’s secular socialist machine represents as great a threat to America as Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union once did.” That sure sounds like you think he’s a bad guy with bad ideas.

Gingrich again tried to distance himself from the fiery rhetoric in his book, simply saying that the “secular socialist machine” is taking over “traditional America” without linking Obama to it.

3. Title should be, "To Save America: Voters Elected Obama to Stop the GOP Theocratic Fascist Machine.
Love how Gingrich (married 3x, cheated on wife #2, served divorce papers on wife #1 while she recovered from cancer surgery) blathers on about those good old religious family values.

8. He has been saved and is now a proud member of the Catholic Church.
He has much in common with the morals of the pedophile priests and their pimp bishops.

4. Keep an eye on Pastor Jim Garlow
Newt hired him to sanitize his image ...they are both political operatives...Garlow hides behind Pastor and his Church.

The fact that this risible jackass serial philanderer tax cheat Nixonian level liar scum still finds succor in polite society- instead of the short end of a rope inspired vigilante justice is a real testament to the greatness of our form of government and society.

Listen to him talk. What he says is total bull and never answers the question, but he talks like he's important and knowledgeable. What a fake.

7. The thing is Gingrich IS smart
But his problem is that he thinks he's smarter than everyone else so when he is dealing with a non-Fox media personality, asking him to defend what they both know is bullshit, he can't.

13. He' not a politician
People like him and Sarah Palin are in Business. They're job is to sell is many books as they can, get as many speaker fees as they can and loosen as much money as they can from Republican voters pockets. This isn't about politics it's about making money and telling people what they want to hear. That's why they can totally change their opinion based on the audience. To Newt these aren't deeply held beliefs and he believes in them no more than any ad man believes his ad campaign.

9. This guy, Gingrich, is
as disgusting a figure as exists on the right side of American politics today. He is every bit as bad as Limbaugh, Beck, Coulter and Savage. Now he claims to be Christian. This claim falls flat on its face. This claim is as big a lie as the rest of his lies.

He plans to use his new Catholicism in preparation for a run for the presidency and he is dead serious. He is after those "Reagan Democrats" that he loves so much - a mostly Catholic demographic. Hopefully by now this group of voters has come to the realization that the Republican Party is not only anti-labor but also anti-American worker and anti-American manufacturing.

These guys are the reason for globalization and outsourcing. They have NEVER done a thing for the American labor force, NEVER!
