1. So basically Libertarians...according to this guy want to bring back segregation
That's essentially what he's saying. He talks about freedoms and whatnot, but all of the people Libertarians would exclude from their business wouldn't be free.

10. Not 100%- Only private segregation.

Bigotry and racial discrimination would still be out of bounds for government agencies.

I was pleased that Thom asked the question that had been on my mind since the get go: So the Libertarians equate the inability to racially discriminate with slavery? The whole point of Jim Crow was to keep black people down, and to preserve the spirit if not the institution of slavery as much as possible.

What a clown this guy is. I lose more respect for the Libertarians every day.

15. Except the military.

As far as I know, they're still in favor of DADT. Except they're against discrimination in public institutions.

 I guess it's necessary, since we're on a slippery slope to forced bisexuality for all. Damn progressives!

2. How does this guy teach at Loyola?
After listening to this guys credentials I expected a decent discussion. He says the exact same crap over and over, Thom calls him out on each specific element, and then he complains that he didn't get enough time to explain his ideas. Class act.

4. That's the mindset of academia. They're used to their controlled lecture hall environments.
When you get them out of their element where people armed with facts disagree with them without consequences of a bad grade, they come unglued.

5. Ron Paul Rocks!!!
He has done a huge service for the country by his last win. If it weren't for Ron Paul, most people would not have any idea just how whacked out the beliefs of the Libertarian party is. Thanks, Ron!

7. Hey, wouldn't segregation
be really weird when we have a black president? Thom, I was waiting to talk to you yesterday, but your show ended. How would this work? The Secret Service at the lunch counter while the President waits outside?

11. Awesome point.
Edited on Tue May-25-10 01:44 PM by WhoIsNumberNone
Of course if we did actually bring back Jim Crow, black people wouldn't be allowed to run for president, so there's your solution.

Wouldn't it be awesome to see this turd get his "privatized segregation" leagalized... then see Obama walk into every "whites only" restaurant in the south and sit down? As if to say "I'm the President, bitch. What'choo gonna do?"

12. Libertarianism just doesn't work in the real world.
Their ideals are deeply dysfunctional, and they refuse to see that. They would much rather live in a fantasy that trusts the 'goodness' of greed. They willfully ignore the fact that the world just doesn't work like that. Watching Rachel Maddow's interview with Rand Paul, as well as this video (only bisexuals don't discriminate?!), make their dysfunction painfully clear. Libertarians are seriously messed up.

13. They can apply all the logic they want but discrimination is ethics and morality and it's
never ever right.
