What's not funny is Discovery/TLC's plan to run Sarah Palin's Alaska.
Putting lipstick on that pig won't change anything, but with a backdrop of Alaska? And framing her as just an average Alaskan mom with no political baggage or controversy? You know it is an attempt to 'clean up' Mrs Palin in time for 2012. And what's tragic is it will work. Sweeping helicopter pans with soaring music as the camera zooms in on a parka clad Sarah on top of a mountain, wind blowing her hair, her steely eyes and crooked smile fearlessly gazing out over This Land of Ours. Ug makes me sick, but it will humanize her and cower the MSM even more to back off with the "tough" questions.
It laughably obvious. They could have used any other high profile Alaskan or movie star to host this series. Obviously Mark Burnette and Rupert Murdoch have more in common than their birthplace. Its a deliberate attempt to repackage Palin as an outdoorsy, environment loving, close to the earth and tough cookie from a rugged state, instead of the beauty pageant contestant, weather girl, and Gov quitter she is, in much the same way that they created a straight shootin "cowboy" from Texas out of the Connecticut born failed businessman Dubya Bush.
Please take a minute to write to Discovery/TLC and tell them your thoughts on airing this series.
