1. McConnell & McCain are like Statler & Waldorf with all the crotchety angst
but none of the humor!

And, sadly, I have no chickens to barter with...

3. Imagine the number of chickens a doctor would accumulate in ONE DAY,
if our health care system adopts Chicken Sue's currency.

That doctor's family would get so sick of chicken so fast.

Her proposal would have been considered flippant if she had not come back in another interview and reaffirmed her position.

5. Well a barter system would be alot better for capitalism.
The exploitability of the monetary system is what really screws over capitalism(using money to make more money),if libertarians and conservatives advocated barter more maybe their economic ideas would hold more merit.

7. But bartering for livestock?
Livestock is not allowed within city limits in most States, so one could go to the store and purchase frozen food and offer that as payment? The elderly cannot barter with offering to paint someones house, or any physical work. Bartering worked when the population was farmers and ranchers, it would never work now. It's a ridiculous concept.

8. I wonder if she realizes that the "olden days" of which she is speaking
was during the depression when even Dr.'s were in need of food...? So chickens were a god send to them.

10. And chickens were UNAFFORDABLE then, too.
My father to his dying day couldn't stand Potato Soup.

My Grandmother used to make potato soup for meals for the family - and they couldn't eat the potatos but ONCE for how long that batch of soup lasted! They didn't even have chickens on their thought process for dinner!

And when I was a kid - Chicken was a SUNDAY MEAL SPECIAL EVENT!!!

That's how EXPENSIVE chickens were!!!

11. Yeah, chicken was our Sunday too...
The rest of the week we used the eggs from the chickens...we raised pigs and dairy cows, so we were better off and had lots of land - but no electricity or running water...I guess my Grandparents had it better than alot of people..
