I find this to be interesting because Denmark is 1 of the most liberal open and free countries in the world, yet racism is a growing problem. With falling birth rates all western countries are looking for cheap young immigrant labor but facing a nativist backlash from their own population. This is a world wide phenomenon. It's most obvious in the US Tea Party movement but it's growing everywhere. I would argue, if not checked this has the potential to burn down the whole world within a decade.

1. Par for the course
The lower classes have to be set one against the other, or else they will all realize who is sucking up all the money and give the "haves and the have-mores" their just due.

2. nativist anxiety: a good replacement for cold war fearmongering
a raison d'être for the militarized police state who's only job is to keep the rich in power.

6. although note the right wing police culture imported from the US
EU, Australia, Canada etc all have racism, of course, but today that's stoked by a right wing ideology that's exported around the world from the US.

8. My thought was that those cops could be from anywhere.
They all dress the part exactly the same and swagger onto the stag. We truly have a world police force now. Just say the word and they will march together to keep us all in line. They practice here on the bikers.

4. Its a gang war like any other
It flares up now and again as they fight over the drug market. Yes, the gang afilliation falls along "racial" lines. I used the "" as the real picture is a lot more complicated than that.
The Black Cobras interviewed are only post rationalising their deeply criminal organisation.

They mention the Danish Peoples Party - and when the Tea Party movement started forming I saw it as the exact same thing. Same kind of people, same kind of rhetoric - and same percentage. A conglomerate of xenophobes, racists and town crazies. If anything it has been the least obvious in the US as your two-party system has not given them a specific political outlet.

7. Has nothing to do with the cartoons
Its just criminals fighting over their business areas.

And the rest is extreme exageration and generalisation. Take it from someone who lives here.

There certainly is a cultural integration problem within the communities of middel easter descent. But a lot of that stems from culture and not religion as such - and the kind of people that make up those immigrants. Poor uneducated hillbillies basically. They were destined to be the new lower class grouping up in ghettos. And their kids will have little support from home and their environment in seeking upwards mobility. And they end up like any kids in such an environment - only reinforced by the cultural divide. Think Compton and throw in a background of rural Turkey, Somalia or Palestine. Their strong adherance to their religion is a symptom, not a cause.

I have had several muslim iraqi and turkish aquaintances whose parents had higher educations and lo and behold, they got high level educations and didn't end up in gangs.
