MSNBC Countdown w/ KEITH OLBERMANN - April 09, 2010: Keith Olbermann establishes his "Fridays with Thurber" segment by reading the short stories "The Rabbits Who Caused All the Trouble" and "The Unicorn in the Garden"

OLBERMANN: "Some of the best writings of the 20th century, as we see from tonight's first of two selections, writing that is extraordinarily relevant to the politics of the 21st century."

1. Scary, isn't it?
It's obvious what Thurber's inspiration for "The Rabbits Who Caused All the Trouble" is. But I could easily see the same thing happening today.

9. I do that too. I'm severely nearsighted and have bifocals. However, the vision
through bifocals is not as clear as with the naked eye...as long as the book is close enough to the eyes.

12. I wear "over forty" glasses myself
but only for close reading and computing. Everything else, including driving and watching TV, I do without them.

I tried being middle-aged, but it just doesn't work--I've decided to from adulthood directly tro senility.

4. "Unicorn in the garden"
Edited on Sat Apr-10-10 04:07 AM by WileEcoyote
Kind of reminds me of both my ex wives.

Each pushing and nagging for me to make more money. Anything except for me my ordinary self. Her want of money being the primary ingredient of our association.

10. The first wife was a Liberal
She worked on some Democratic Party candidate's camapaign named "Wetmore" (no foolin!) from Massachusetts. Got to the point where she wanted me to pay for her subscription to "Ms. Magazine" which I declined due to various reasons.

The second was largely politically neutral.

The second did work very hard for a living and still does. Neither wife however saw me as anything more than a rung up the financial/sociological circle. I have noticed that this is a common trait sorry to say.

Not so unusual.

5. Man oh man, that was great. Why can't we have more stuff like
this? Sure beats listening to Lady Gagga singing about sitting on her boyfriend's Disco Stick. Thanks for the post, Hissyspit.
