1. Well, they will have to take responsibility for that
He sure hasn't been hob-nobbing with bishops.

3. K&R
Stupak is an idiot. Nothing but a theocratic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominionism">Dominionist stooge. They'd condone telling any lie, and very likely any crime that supports their ends of Patriarchal holy rule. What a bunch of maroons.

- Those asshats are going to have to recast their planning for the world takeover.....

4.  Isn't Stupak a Democrat?
Someday Democrats are going to want his vote, even if he is against abortion. (providing Democrats go back to voting on bills instead of deeming them passed)

5. Yes, he's a Democrat, from Michigan's 1st District...
But he's been fighting his own little war, all by himself, citing language in this bill about abortion, which this bill does not contain. This bill does not, nor has ever, provided abortion coverage.

9.  Can't hurt to have a couple anti-abortion Dems.
I'm pro-choice, but driving out people like Stupak doesn't make a lot of sense. It's like the Republican's new ideology test.

10. I very much agree with you, that we should have a big tent...
But Stupak is a very poor representative for his cause, since there is no language at all about abortion in this bill. He's serving as a distraction, and a big one, when what Congress should be discussing, and the media, is what really is in this bill, the good and the bad... People need to be informed, not distracted into a frenzy about a non-issue. Even the nuns recognize that... ;)

11.  How do we know?
Where abortion will be fit in with so much bill and so little time to study it? It hasn't been debated and won't even be voted on. I feel like I don't get a chance to know anything about the bill, and it has to be passed as is to fit into the parliamentary hole. What is passed now will be full of things that have to be fixed later on. And there will be lawsuits over many of the sidecar bribes.

12. Because abortion is not included in this bill at all.
There has never been federal funding for abortion and, since it's not addressed in this bill, the status quo remains. And, if this bill passes, it's my belief that everyone will be reluctant to revisit it, since this fight has been so controversial and acrimonious. Bart Stupak is barking up an empty tree.
