1. The Senate is where progress goes to die.

The Senate has been the biggest disappointment for the last several years.

7. It's not a joke. The Senate SHOULD be abolished.
Your condescending sarcasm is inappropriate. Just because it's extremely unlikely to happen doesn't mean we shouldn't talk about it or that it's not a good idea.

The Senate is an anachronistic, completely undemocratic institution that reeks of aristocracy. Why would you want to keep it? Why would you not want to educate Americans about their unrepresentative government?

It would probably require a constitutional convention to actually do it, which is dangerous, but it might well be worth it.

In any case, kudos to David for standing up and for teaching.

No, really? Ya think? Dude, all you are doing here is parading your ignorance of american government and the Constitution. I mean, you do understand the concept of checks and balances, right? Have you read the Federalist Papers? Do you understand the reason the framers provided for a bicameral legislature? This is almost as stupid as a previous OP that called for the abolition of Congress in favor of the citizens directly voting on everything.

Why would you say something as silly as, "It would probably require a constitutional convention to actually do it"? Can you think of some way that the Senate could be "abolished" without amending the Constitution?

Dude, no one is saying that the Senate does not need to be reformed. But, I happen to admire the brilliance of the Constitution and it really pains me to see political know-nothings advocating such bizarre nonsense.
