1. In other words, business as usual with Glenn Beck.
But rightwingers are exempt from being charged with inciting violence -- at least for now.

3. wow, that caller
poor Bev in Ohio, starting to prepare her case for when Obama comes to kill her for not being able to work in the factory anymore. But I have a family!

How cold-blooded can Glenn Beck be, to keep someone like Bev on the hook. What people will do for money!

with inciting violence. Hell, we can't even protest without being targets of law enforcement, yet this asshole is allowed along with many others.

5. Cenk needs to stop mincing words about Beck
Beck wants someone to kill Obama. Period. If enough people start saying this, maybe he'll lose enough sponsors to start costing Faux some real money.

27. Sad thing is jgaz
BECK is losing sponsors NOT FOX!! Rupert even said as much that he didn't care that Beck lost sponsors (and here is the reason why his words) we aren't losing sponsors they are simply just putting those ads on OTHER FOX PROGRAMS. Beck could lose every single sponsor and as long as they simply just put them elsewhere IT WON'T MATTER!!

the ONLY way this hurts Fox and would even remotely (MAYBE) cost Beck his job is the sponsors need to go one step further and NOT BUY ADS ON ANY Fox program sighting Beck as the reason. See boycotts ONLY work if you don't purchase elsewhere (in same company). Its like saying I'm not going to buy from Walmart and I'll just funnel my money to Sams Club.. SAME COMPANY so it doesn't work really.

As long as Rupert gets his money he could care LESS what program it comes form he'd just fund Becks program from other sources WITHIN Fox.

Though I only see it here or on Rachel Maddoiw... x(

The lies and rewriting of history scare me to death. I've gotten so I can pick out most of the lies, from Congress, from these frootloops, but what frightens me is that most people can't... If it's on the TV "news," it must be the truth. :scared:

8. Wow....Beck would take away her disability if he could.
He won't tell her that to her face, because she might beat him to within an inch of his life.
But that is exactly what they want to do. Here is the kicker though...They only want to take away
all of our Social programs...so they can say the Dems did it. It won't be true but they will scream it from the mountain tops and the idiot right will believe it because Fox news says so. They want to do great evil so they can blame it on us. Now that's the great evil that is coming our way. The Devil is a republican. Ditto heads are their minions. They deserve what they get...unfortunately we will get blasted at the same time. I with Cenk....Someone is going to hurt or killed over this Beck fear mongering.

I just wish there was a way to reverse this trend and pull back from the brink...but I fear bad things are ahead. This is just a gut feeling but a very powerful one.

Edited on Thu Feb-18-10 01:47 PM by agent46
From the beginning of his nationwide roll-out Beck has been building a carefully crafted edifice of lies and fictional history, whipping up his base with fear and loathing. Whoever is behind this well funded and precisely engineered propaganda campaign wants violence and there will be violence.

Back when the Teabags were protesting congress there was lots of talk about "revolution." As I recall even Dick Armey and Michelle Bachman got on the megaphone and started babbling about the constitution and calling for revolution. The Teabags are just the kind of low-information right wing rabble that gets harnessed and incited to violence as Fascist tools.

No tinfoil here. All anyone has to do is connect the dots.

The Teabag event I refered to: http://cnsnews.com/news/article/58594

"Stranger In a Strange Land" that applies here but the name was "Foster" I recall (I think). Scudder was in "If This Goes On" if I remember correctly (doubtful).

Either way, Glen Beck is a self serving scumbag.

14. Inadvertant subliminal advertising
Edited on Thu Feb-18-10 03:04 PM by John Kerry VonErich
Glenn Beck suckered progressive commentators in responding to things he said on air. It's called the "uh oh, Beck said something bad, lets tune in to see what he'll say next" routine. This tactic, no matter who it is and who the respondents are has been done for many many years. It worked for Stern, it worked for Limbaugh, it worked for Savage, Hannity, Coulter and so forth. All it does is polarizing the figure to the point where they can't be snuffed out (fame wise of course). That's why I keep saying don't give them the time of day, don't say their name, use clips etc. Less publicity is the weapon to stop them.

If you have a compelling case to make against the bad actor, make it. People were saying the same thing about Limbaugh for years ("If you so much as mention his name, no matter what the context, it only makes him stronger") back in the 1990s when he was riding high. But I'd say all the negative publicity has put Limbaugh in a box at this point: he's listened to only by the people whose views are already so demented, you more or less have to write them off as lost.

Beck is still a mainstream phenomenon. MORE negative stories such as this need to be told. Eventually, Beck, too, will be in a box, stewing and self-destructing in his own juices of self-hatred until his blip mercifully falls off the radar.

Go, Cenk! Go, Maddow! Go, Maher!

23. Limbaugh is now just too big.
Drugs charges just bounce off of him, he is too polarizing now. Beck is still rising and can be stopped as a joke by simply brushing him off. He's a publicity hog. Like the other right wing pundits. Hell, even Thom Hartmann stated this.

football stadium, shopping mall. Anywhere we can get an outlet to a mass audience to put water on this fire of insanity. I mean all democracy is, is the people ruling, when he says democracy will fail he's saying the people will fail and obviously corporations win. All he left out was corporate power putting a boot in the face of humanity forever. It don't have togo down like that. Especially with 80 % getting it on the supreme court ruling, making a constitutional amendment far more possible thankfully. More folks are getting it everyday and that's what the likes of GB are fearing, the gig is up. The 80% figure of people geting it on the Supreme court ruling is a very positive sign, it means we've nearly won, this is their last throes, if you will.

Rather surprised not to see it as a headline on DU actually. Yeah I heard he railed on Bush, if the tea bag party is against sarah palin I doubt they'd be for Bush....

Just got into a verbal fight with my brother because he's brainwashed with Fox Gossip channel. It was particularly bad today because I'm angry with how the right wing is inciting this violence. So some messed up guy became a suicide bomber of a sort because the Right probably filled his head with alot of goop.

24. Democracy=Democrats;
Republic=Republicans

It will be so that Democrats may have to come up with a new party name. beck is a rabble rouser. His audience are of the most down trodden in America. They are pissed and want to know why. We know why, 30 years of republican rule. Yet beck will keep on convincing his audience that Democrats are the ones to blame, and progressives most of all because (fill in the blank). beck is untouchable now because of his audience. rupert will not pull his show if 100% of beck's sponsors leave. beck is pulling in the rubes and all of faux is benefiting from it.

Or not.

29. Beck
is evil incarnate. In his "research" he might take a look at a piece written in our national newpaper, The Globe and Mail, in Nov. 2009:
"Critics widely predicted that legalizing physician-assisted suicide would be a slippery slope to cutbacks in palliative care. Society would reason: Why offer expensive comfort care to suffering patients when it's cheaper to hasten their deaths? In practice, the opposite has occurred. Oregon legislation requires that dying patients be offered a full range of options, and the state has become a leader in palliative and end-of-life care.

Is it too much to hope that our legislators might learn from recent history? When it comes to end-of-life care, Canadians should be able to choose from among a full range of options, including first-rate palliative care and physician-assisted suicide. With proper safeguards in place to ensure openness and accountability, there's no reason to deny people the help they want and need."

Beck doesn't like "Evil" progressives. He would prefer to cause fanatics to line them against a wall and shoot them. He will never know how truly evil he is.

Now we can debate if it matters or not that Bev is a fake caller, but don't be fooled into believing that she really exists. Beck is a master carny. I never watch or listen to his show, except in clips posted here. Got to hand it to the guy, he's figured out a way to reach an audience he would otherwise not reach. If only we had someone on our side with the same amount of showmanship.

39. Violence and the Teabags - anecdotal pulse of the times?
Edited on Fri Feb-19-10 02:19 PM by agent46
I thought I'd post this little exchange that happened on a social networking site I frequent. One of my connections is an old friend from college - we're talking 1976 here. We reconnected just last year. Our "friendship" has always been based on a kind of good natured badinage - seeing as we've always been polar opposites in most ways. Anyway, as it is, my old buddy has done very well for himself over the years and has evolved into a great supporter of the Tea Party movement. Thinks Sarah Palin is hot. Watches Glenn Beck. Thinks that real change can only come "through the barrel of a gun" but isn't an NRA style "gun guy" by any means - more of a middle aged ski bum actually. Also, he's not particularly religious and sure as hell believes he should be able to keep everything he earns without a tax burden. White, privileged, conservative, entitled.

I felt this exchange was telling and decided to post it here with name changes. Now remember - these are not "stupid" people nor are they disadvantaged in any way. They are people who are educated and should know better - but they don't.

Start:

My Teabag Buddy:
I'm not saying I condone the dude flying his plane into the IRS building. But I understand.

Agent46:
Ok (Buddy), fess up. Was he one of yr baggers? Has the revolution begun???

My Teabag Buddy:
If he was one of my baggers the body count would be much higher and include politicians.

My Teabag Buddy:
Everyday the revolution gains new members.....

Buddy's Other Teabag Buddy Chiming In:
You said it, (Buddy).

End.

Now I ask myself, is this indicative of something larger or just a couple of bloated windbags letting off a little gas?
