2. I got about a minute into it before I bailed, too...
...he basically rolled over, purred gently, and exposed his soft underbelly in a display of trust of his new ant overlords.

Started out by saying "as you know, I am a straight shooter"

In my experience, people who have to remind you that they are straight shooters are anything but straight shooters.

4. As the camera panned in at the beginning, it seemes there were maybe 10 people there tops.
Rec.

I doubt the real 'baggers want to be in the same room with Steele.

At least without their hoods and robes...

5. From the "Crooks & Liars" article which features this clip:
Greta Van Susteren interviewed Amy Kremer, a Tea Party activist (who doesn't like the Birthers unlike Palin) about the Steele meeting and she made clear that the Tea Partiers were working strictly with the Republican Party; it hadn't crossed her mind to talk to the Democratic Party, too, until Greta asked her about it as a signal that they were, you know, truly cough cough *nonpartisan* cough hack.

As you can see in the video, Michael Steele was all worried that the Tea Partiers would be concerned that the meeting was about the GOP co-opting the Tea Party movement, which he assured them was far from the truth, as indeed it was. This was kinda like a sea lion assuring a transient killer whale that it had no intention of eating him.

8. +1 I saw that David Kaine this morning... you are correct...what a puke
..then... the rest of the morning... C-SPIN featured all the Republican talking heads.. to whip consensus into line.

Nothing has changed... same game plan for the repukes since 1980! Like Jackals.. they line up for 2012. Here is a summary of C-Spin from 9-noon this date...

1) Blow smoke up the dress of the party faithful.. make them think they are going to benefit from Corp-Gov. (Stockholm Syndrome) Talk stocks, bonds and investments.. all the while you are reaching around and stealing their 401k's.

2) Lots of discrimination and racism disguised at Patriotism...chest thumping and flag waving. (Cue Sarah Palin and the Tea Baggers)

3) Pander to the Evangelicals and religious nut jobs.. push their hot buttons... mix thoroughly and bake in an oven until 2012. The Media loves it... the voters love it...it's a slam dunk!

9. Let's Facts Facts
These nut jobs have always been in the Republicans corner. Sure there are a number who think both parties are full of crap, but deep down these people fit the Republican followers to a T. Few, if any minorities, dislike of government or large government, flag waving, patriotic to a fault, tend to lean towards Christianity, love guns, not the brightest bulbs going, etc. For the life of me I don't know why these knuckleheads have such a strong dislike of what Democrats stand for. I don't want to sound naive, but many of the things they enjoy, SS, Medicare, a somewhat decent hourly wage, etc., were because of the Democrats. Yet they run to the arms of the right all the time. Don't they get it that these same SOBs have outsourced jobs overseas to make larger profits for owners/stockholders at the expense of the worker. Forget about the little guys. They don't get it.

10. 2 things that explain it.
Edited on Thu Feb-18-10 05:42 PM by srf Rantz
yes you're right, they don't get it. and they probably never will.

here's the 2 things I narrow it down to:

1. the civil rights bill, ie. simple racism. government is great when it saves us from grueling poverty in the great depression and lifts "us" into middle class, but as soon as "they" "start helping the N***ERS," government is BAD. from that point on nothing else gets through. no matter how close to the bone any and all social programs are stripped in the minds of these people taxes and "big government" equals "taking my money and giving it to the N***ERS". (sorry I hate using that word even with *** and quoting how these fucks think, but that's the way it is)

2. "low self esteem" aka resentment and jealousy toward those that make them aware how stupid they really are. even if "those people" are trying to help them. sounds silly to put it that way but hard to boil it down to a catch phrase. this is basis of the hatred of "elites". nevermind that its powerful corporate and banking elites that make their lives miserable, if the bought and paid for media "elites" (Rush, Fox et al) put the blame on the cultural or intellectual "elites", (you know those smarty pants college kids who came down here and gave the N*****S rights and then took our money and gave it to them)...well you get the picture. reason and logic goes out the window.

the repugnants (the corporate oligarchy thereof) have been exploiting this for 50 years. add a black president elected by the majority in a landslide proving that they (the tea partiers, rednecks, real americans, whatever you want to call them) are in the minority and will never have any "real" power again and the desperation and anger boil over in violence. and at the easy, if wrong, target.

it will get lots worse before it gets better...if ever.
