Barney Frank calls John Fund a 'liar' and a 'coward' and explains how the Right Wing Noise machine operates
http://crooksandliars.com/john-amato/barney-frank-calls-john-fund-liar-and-c

Frank: You are entirely wrong about me and in the absence of your being able to show any basis which you made such a statement to ask you to acknowledge that fact. He's not only a liar, he's a coward. He wouldn't do it. My staff member asked him, called him up and said, what was this based on? Well, I made a mistake. Well, have you made a retraction? Oh, yeah, he said. Can we see it? "I told a couple of people." Mr. Fund makes it up. It's a lie, it's a myth. There was nothing there and it's to discredit all democrats.

His right-wing cohorts echo it and echo it. The next thing is it will be on the floor in the next two weeks. This is the democrat disregard for the electoral process. And when we call Mr. Fund's attention to the fact that this was a lie, what does he say? Whoops. but he's not going to tell anybody about it. Mr. Speaker, this is not the only case of this and I know this has happened before. But because I was directly involved here, I was in position to document this. It begins with a lie from this editorial writer from "the Wall street journal." it is then a lie repeated by his right-ring colleagues. He refuses to do anything about.

1. There ya go. Barney Frank calling out the right-wing liars for what they are.
And he did it on the floor of the House of Representatives. Kinda puts those right-wing congressmen on notice that they're gonna be scrutinized much more closely from now on.

So much for their "death panel" bullshit and their "birther" and "teabagger" supporters.

2. Barney needs to know.
The insane right blames everything on him since 2007. My relatives say "he's a crook." I say "what was his crime?" They have no answer and mutter about his "cronies". I say "one short, pudgy, gay man brought the entire country to its knees and the repug majority was powerless to stop him?" Suddenly, the subject gets changed.

My point about Barney is: they portray him as this big, scary man who single-handedly took down the economy. Once I point out how they have been propagandized, they realize how ridiculous they sound and change the subject.

9. Oh, I've heard he "forced" the banks
to give out loans to poor minorities that he knew would never pay back these loans. Pure fabrication and obfuscation. But this has been repeated millions of times and has become the favorite Reich Wing explanation for the meltdown. Absurdity upon absurdity.

This is how they will beat us, through propaganda and THEIR M$M. We have got to counter this bullshit....somehow.

22. You Forgot That He Single Handidly Compelled AIG To Insure These Bad Loans
using derivative contracts while not maintaining the assets to back up these loans in case they defaulted.

It's amazing that Barney Frank, and Barney Frank alone, has the power to destroy the entire global financial system, yet gay marriage is still illegal.

5. I believe it was Fund on
NPR, before the election, claiming that ACORN was under indictment in several states for voter fraud. He also claimed that the presidential election would be close and the winner would again be decided in the courts. Apparently the presidential election was not close enough for the GOP operatives to cheat their way to a win. Not for the lack of trying.

My point is, they have been using propaganda efforts to discredit ACORN for a long while so as to dismantle a viable registration effort. They know full well the numbers are not in their favor.

8. The real problem is that we have no "Liberal" echo chamber
to equal that of the Rethugs. Barney Frank or any other Democrat can call these bastards on their lies but unless they have a better forum than C-Span (DU and MSNBBC excepted) it never gets heard by the majority of the people. I don't have an answer for this problem - Air America seemed foredoomed to economic failure. But, until these lies can be exposed to the majority of the population in the form that Frank did just now we will continue to have a majority believe these lies.

45. Odd how it is that the labels are deliberately reversed.
It should be
  • Republicans:
    • decay of civil rights and liberties,
    • moral decay in propagandist lies and civil discourse,
    • economic failure,
    • deeper economic crisis,
    • permissive attitudes in bank regulation,
    • etc.

  • Democrats:
    • Truthful to a fault,
    • tough as nails on the economy and security,
    • proud Americans all,
    • etc.

It's not too late to learn how to do this.

15. To Right Wingers: If RW Media has to lie to you about Us
what does that mean about your party platform? Let me explain:

If you need to lie about your competition, then it is obvious you have no argument nor do you have any merit. If ya can't tell the truth, you have no point of view, and the party you belong to is a treasonous joke on America itself.

Also, tell us one fucking thing the right wing has done for Americans?

16. RW Lies
The definitive story on ACORN and O'keefe's culmination of right wing smears needs to be told. Almost all of what I know about Acorn is the O'keefe thing.

Did Acorn loose government funding because of the O'keefe scandal?

Does Acorn steal elections?

Does Acorn register zombies to vote?

What is the story of Acorn; what do they do and why are they being unfairly attacked? What's the truth to all of this?

I'm addicted to DU, you'd think I'd be well informed on such a thing!

21. I've been reading The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell...
In it, he cites two studies done back in the 1980's where a group of volunteers were hired to observe the nightly news of the ABC, NBC, and CBS with the sound muted. Their assignment was to monitor the facial expressions of each anchor and the exact time the expression occured. They were not told what the anchors were reporting on. The study showed that the anchors of ABC, and NBC managed to keep there faces fairly neutral throughout the broadcast, however the anchor of CBS was noted to have smiled more often at specific times during his broadcast. What was he smiling about? Unbeknown to the volunteers, he was talking about the presidential elections, more specifically about Reagan. He clearly favored the Republican candidate and was unable to keep that off his face.

The study was conducted again during the next election, When George Bush Sr. was the republican candidate. The results were consistent with the first study.

By themselves, these studies don't really tell us much, but when measured against election polling data the results are more troubling. Among the viewers of ABC, and NBC Nightly News the ratio of Republican and Democratic voters were fairly even. However, the voters who watched CBS Nightly News skewed heavily in favor of the Republicans.

This was when back when the stories were written to be objective. The anchors were trained to maintain neutrality, and there were people on staff who were specifically there to confirm facts before they were aired. Not to mentioned there were only three flippin' channels to choose from! All this, from something as subtle as a news anchor smiling more often whenever he spoke about the candidate of his choice.

Now that any semblance of neutrality has been obliterated, and entire networks are dedicated to spreading falsehoods that would leave Orwell's Ministry of Truth in awe, what kind of influence do think the media has now?

They are still acting like they are in opposition and not as they should be, as in , running the government. Why doesn't Barney bring a bill that will force these bastards to tell the truth .

There are no standards left in the media because there is no legal requirement for any. The FCC has been gutted over the last 30 years when it could be argued it was needed the most.

In todays age of technology and the super powerness of the United States, what is wrong with a system that automatically registers its citizens. There has got to be a way. Somehow. Somehow. 37. Barney hasn't done too much good either
He could have pushed harder for financial reform. I don't hear him screaming for reinstituting Glass Steagal. He isn't calling for Tim Geithner or Larry Summers to be fired. I'd say he's a typical Democrat middle-man, which won't do at all in this day and time. Gay or straight doesn't matter either, we need somebody with 'balls' (male or female) to start attacking the swarming lobbyists from the Wall Street Banks, who have already succesfully gutted any attempt at reform. Again, Frank is in the same room with these guys, and he keeps talking about compromise, or surrender, when he should be aggressively going after them.
Too many people have suffered catastrophically from Wall Street's behavior, and all this time, Frank has been in office. When key regulations were changed, when so-called regulators were hired directly from the industry that has so badly damaged our economy, you can't simply give soundbites about how you disagree and pathetically say you don't have the votes. (There's a place in France, called Vichy, I don't know if Barney Frank has been there, or is there now)

Mr. President are you listening?

If the Republioans are fighting you every step of the way as you try to rebuild America after the destruction of the Deregulation Disaster, adn to build America out of this REPUBICAN DYSTOPIA, then you should accomodate them. It'stime to "take it to them". Beieve me, millions will stand up and cheer you for it.
