5. "Malik" means "king"
and Malik Shabazz ruled this interview by what he said. The analogy was apt-Hitler used a national tragedy to gain power-Bush used a national tragedy to gain power.

15. Right. If you go back to what Ellison said, it was that
Bush did something after 9/11 that paralleled what Hitler did after the burning of the Reichstag. That is very different than saying that George Bush is just like Adolph Hitler. The latter kind of statement sets off third-rail reactions among the media, so a public figure who would say something like that would not even get a hearing. Of course Hannity wanted to shove the argument in that direction because he doesn't want Malik's or Ellison's actual words to be evaluated on their merits.

37. hitler was elected, bush was 'elected' (in terms of result)
the fascasti who support bush and the gopig hate any reference to the nazis- indeed they now say, as if self evident truth, that anyone who even mentions german rightwing political history instantly loses cred because, well that's just too far out, man (in cheech voce) when the similarities of the over-wrought German people in post 1st war debacle made them easily exploitable by mr easy answers hitler etc! The very same dynamic was employed by the bush rightwing to get us to where WE ARE now! And hannity doesn't deny it! CAN'T! Like Mr Shabbazz said, hannity is on a sinking ship with junyer bush (and poor hannity hadda call in Alan Colmes to escape the trap he was in! lol!)
Every time the nazipoohs attack us (saying we accuse that the 'Jews' had forewarning about the 911 disaster when that isn't the issue, regardless- it was Ellison's linking the styles of the ww2 nazis with the post 911 bush gopigs)
'you're on a sinking ship with bush at only 20 percent approval and falling' is all that needs to be said to mediawhores like sean hannazi....

6. Malik shabazz led that group of vigilante fools at Duke University in the lacrosse case
They demanded that the lacrosse players be found "guilty". After the players were all cleared he refused to apologize.

I don't think this Shabazz fellow is qualified to talk about democracy because he clearly does not understand how a justice system is supposed to work in one.

Of course, neither does Hannity.

But I wish Shabazz had mentioned that Prescott Bush funded Hitler, even after Pearl Harbor.

It sickens me to listen to Hannity for even a few seconds.

27. This is a problem for me as well - I know I need to hear what the
right is spouting (Hannity, O'Reilly, Beck, Carlson, Coulter, ad nauseum), but it pains me to have to listen to them for any length of time. I wonder if other people know that they are lying 90% of the time. I really try and live by my Christian values, but I really cannot stand these guys!!

10. He missed the Prescott connection,
and did not come right out and say that * made 9/11 happen, but he did say that * had foreknowledge and allowed it to happen, and took advantage of it for a power grab just like the Nazis did the Reichstag fire.

11. As far as foreknowlege of 9/11 goes - lots of intelligence agencies tried to warn
the Bush administration of an impending attack. Syrian, Israeli, Egytian, Russian, French and other intelligence communities tried to pass the message on. They were all ignored.

John Ashcroft, Attorney General at the time, stopped flying on commercial airliners in August 2001.

It seems that some people took the threat seriously enough to take action.

Hannity gets it wrong again, no surprise there.

Edited on Wed Jul-18-07 10:16 PM by Maat
Or should I say 'distraction' technique. He never let Mr. Shabazz finish in a reply to ONE issue. When Hannity knew Shabazz was about to make a point, he'd launch into another insulting question.

Mr. Shabazz held his own, and make several good points; and it looks like Mr. Shabazz knows a great bit of history.

I loved the part about "the sinking ship."

...in the Fox studios and his guest is 3,000 miles away. Hannity could never handle a direct punch in the face from any of these people, including a closed fist delivered by Nancy Pelosi or any of her congressional colleges.

24. COLMES IS SUCH A TOOL !
Notice how Colmes comes to the rescue when Hannity starts getting his ass handed to him ?
Check out the exchange.

HANNITY: Here's my problem here. Here's my problem. You were friends with Khalid Mohammed (ph), who once used the term, you know, "hook- nosed, bagel-eating, lox-eating, so-called Jews." You're friends with Louis Farrakhan.

SHABAZZ: That's off the topic. You are way off the topic.

HANNITY: No, it's not. It's about your conspiracy theory. It's about your associating with known anti-Semites. And now we have a congressman that uses Nazi references to refer to the Bush administration.

SHABAZZ: It's about you. Bush has gone from 90 percent approval to 20 percent. You,

Sean Hannity, must face it. He's on a sinking ship with George Bush.

COLMES: Hold on a second.

SHABAZZ: Sean Hannity -- let me say this. Sean Hannity is on a sinking ship...

COLMES: First of all, you don't represent Keith Ellison. You're not here representing him. And the things you're saying are not what Keith Ellison said. I just want to be very clear about that. Do you know him?

SHABAZZ: Yes, I do.

COLMES: How well do you know him?

SHABAZZ: What is the relevance of the question?

COLMES: Well, I want to be very clear. He is not a part of your group. He is a Muslim.

SHABAZZ: He's my brother.

COLMES: He's not a member of the New Black Panther Party, and you're not here speaking for him.

SHABAZZ: That is very true. But I am here to say that his position is shared by most Americans who say that Bush totally mismanaged and defrauded the public in his responses to 9/11. He totally manipulated them to him and Dick Cheney's fastest advantage with the Patriot Act, torturing people, Guantanamo Bay, wiretapping American citizens, and this is similar to what happened in Germany. It is dangerous.

COLMES: I agree with you about the Bush administration egregiously being wrong about the issues you just raised, but I don't agree that it's fair to compare him to Adolf Hitler. And I think once you compare an American administration to a Nazi regime, while I agree with the elements you just raised about how I believe they have mismanaged the war, you can't compare Bush to Hitler with any degree with credibility.

SHABAZZ: Well, if America had great relations with Nazi Germany up until the eve of the invasion of Poland in '39, so for six years...

COLMES: What does that have to do with George Bush?

SHABAZZ: I'm just saying, don't act like Nazi Germany is foreign to America. They had great relations for six years, from '33 to '39.

COLMES: What does that have to do with the current administration and people compare Bush to Hitler? You're talking back in the '30s. We're talking about George W. Bush, this president, this administration, and how wrong it is to compare the president to a Nazi leader.

SHABAZZ: The comparison is not off-limits. Only because of propaganda that has made you afraid to make the comparison, the comparison is valid, and Bush may be worse.

HANNITY: We need to ask Congressman Ellison if he agrees with your conspiracies that Jews knew about 9/11 ahead of time...

HANNITY: ... considering you're saying that you're friends with him.

HANNITY: ... if he agrees with your conspiracy. Do you want to call me the devil again?

SHABAZZ: Sean Hannity, your approval rating is down there with Bush.

HANNITY: No, my approval rating is up. Our radio audience has never been higher, and so has TV. Thanks to our viewers and listeners.

SHABAZZ: No, you're on a sinking ship with Bush. Sink away, buddy.

HANNITY: We thank you for being with us.

the other chap should have just roared at him, "Grow up!"

It's the only sensible response to morons like those right-wing hate weenies, when they keep shouting their guests down and preventing them from being heard. The only freedom that truth affords them seems to be a sudden loosening of the bowels. Somebody should give one of them a bottle of kaolin and morphine before the interview starts, and say this is for you. We all know the truth scares the living daylights out of you. Every time you start trying to shout me down, I'm going to pour out a spoonful for you - I've brought a spoon along for the purpose - in case you have an accident.

All he has to do is talk over the guest, don't let the guest arrive at a conclusion, and he wins. I just wonder why people subject themselves to "interviews" like that. Don't they realize they'll just be shouted over?
