7. Raoul is right about this...i'm really getting fed up with the lack of change.
I can't stand to read about one more god damn Wall Street bonus being handed out.

We're all supposed to be grateful for the handouts?? Well, it's better than anything
republicans would have given the economy but I'm sick of it.

Seriously, I am really reaching the end of my patience.

10. Don't lose hope..
I know what you mean about handouts which I call bird droppings. But don't lose patience - more and more people are speaking out against Obama's kissing up to the right wing including prominent radio and TV people who used to support the Democratic party but are now hedging their bets. Maybe Howard Dean is the answer but I'm still all for independent parties forming. I think that's our only hope for real change.

8. The truest part of Raouls
is the decline of the middleclass and how the unions have coinsided. The unions were strong in the 50's and 60's, manufacturing was going strong, and slowly unions were beat down by too much lying and deceipt by manufacturers. Look where we are now. I've work along side of people that have no clue what good a union can do them. They have been brainwashed into believing the unions will take all their money and leave them with no choice.

11. Re: you comments about unions
The thing that will continue to amaze and drive me nuts is how regular, ordinary workers denigrade unions. It's one thing for a millionare to do so because we know where his/her interests lie. But when a working slob who is getting screwed by a corporation complains about unions, it makes no sense at all to me!

I remember an incident that happened a while back when I was still working in government. While having lunch in the cafeteria a guy sat down at the table across from me. I was wearing my union badge which was required in order for union members to contact us if needed (I was a union rep). The guy struck up a conversation with me and during the talk he said he'd been downsized from a major corporation. I might add he was one of millions being let go for no other reason than bigger profits.

I shared with him my own experience in which I'd been middle management at a corporation and accepted an early buyout which was quite lucrative and advantageous for me to take.

We began talking about the global issues (NAFTA, etc.) and he said some nonsense about "not really blaming companies for letting workers go over here because you can't blame them for hiring much cheaper foreign labor in other countries" !!!

I was speechless over his incredible stupidity. I mean here's a guy who'd gotten screwed by a company and was praising that same company for the screwing!

I merely shook my head while staring at him and then I got up and left the table..

It's like that Stockholm syndrome - the hostage praises the hostage taker....

12. Union people in Michigan are some of the most loyal Walmart customers....
Now how's that for blatant stupidity?

The most anti-union company in the US but americans couldn't care less about
how this company is destroying the middle-class.

Another case of "I've got mine, to hell with everyone else".

Or, "I've got my Pringles and Beer at Walmart and the Chinese have my job"

13. Really sad but not surprising.
Your comment about union people shopping at Walmart reminded me of something that may be considered the height of hypocrisy. The local chapter union president whom I served under allowed his wife to shop at Walmart's. But he never went in himself - he would stay in the car and wait for her to come out. Rationalization is great ain't it?
